I booked this hotel because it looked charming and I mistakingly thought that it was close to Park Slope neighborhood where we were visiting family. Unfortunately, the reviews on this site seem to be bots because there is no way this hotel could be rated this high. Dig a little deeper to find the truth. Also, the website out and out lies--makes it sound like there's breakfast, cleaners, information, a little shop with snacks etc. Where to begin. UPON ARRIVAL: The neighborhood is not safe at night and a little sketchy in the day. There is a sort of neighborhood a few blocks away. However, on either side of the hotel is boarded up shops, litter, homeless people hanging out, and across the street a big storage unit. It's so desolate and lonely. Walk in and you will see a person's forehead behind the bullet proof room. No smiles, warmth or feeling that you could ask them any questions. The main area may have been cute once, but not anymore. The "shop" is a vending machine with two or three items in it (and amazingly in the three days that we were there it was suddenly out of order). The bathroom---out of order. The ATM machine--out of order. In the basement there is a rather cute work out room, but all the machines were out of order. There were a couple nooks with cords where tv's used to be, the furniture was falling apart and the bar/kitchen thing has become a storage area. Definitely NO breakfast. The entire place reeked of pot and there were signs up that indicated that some serious partying had been going on and they were trying to restrict party guests. Onward. The elevator was seriously scary. My daughter refused to go on it after the first ride. Okay we made it to the room, door locked. We felt safe. The room had a kind-of cool photo of Crown Heights, but it was falling down in places. The pot smell made it into the room. The pillows were stuningly bad, lumpy and square. The door to the bathroom was rotting away, the vents looked like they hadn't been cleaned. The shampoo and conditioner were expired and there was nowhere to put them in the shower. My husbands light was broken. Only one plug worked in a set of three. We did not see a cleaner the four nights we were there. (They must have them---right?). I mean it was a really terrible hotel--the likes of which I have never seen before. On a good notes, the beds were okay, the locks worked (thank god), the shower wasn't awful and there are some good take out places around and lots of different types of food. Also, since we survived---it makes for a great story.

Extremely soft bedding. I unfortunately did not take any photos.. but I will say it was so great. The staff heeded any plea. They were extremely attentive and replete. Name it and itโs in walking distance! For my first trip to New York and it being solo, it was a rather great experience. I look forward to staying there again when I return.

I had some concerns after recent reviews and prepared for the worst. I travelled from London with a friend for a week in NYC . We got an Uber from JFK. Reasonable price and really quick. The hotel is not perfect (such as hand held shower missing so shower cap was needed and bathroom door was half missing). However, it didn't matter to us as we were so impressed with the size of our suite and the comfort of our beds. There was no maid service but there was a coffee machine a microwave in the room and staff were very responsive to our requests. We slept well every night without noise disturbance. The local area is lively, especially around the subway station. There appeared to be alot of homeless people and the corners felt a bit like an episode of the Wire at times but everyone was friendly towards us. Davids Brisket House round the corner was a great place to get a decent sandwich and absorb the characters from the neighbourhood. The hotel is situated close to the A and C lines with great links to Manhatten. The room was nice and really good value for money. I would stay here again.

Horrendous!!!! The worst experience we ever had. We chose this hotel because it is dog-friendly, and it was a huge mistake. The hotel is terribly rundown, with extremely worn or broken-down furniture, and the lobby is just filthy. We knew we made a mistake when we saw a bulletproof glass at the reception. Check-in time was at 3 pm, we arrived at 5 pm and were told rooms weren't ready! The elevator was broken, so we had to drag our suitcases 4 floors up the stairs. Hallways smelled like cigarettes and cleaning ladies were stacking sheets and supplies on dirty rugs. We were late for an event so decided to stay and brave the night. Luckily sheets seemed clean, so that was one saving grace. Funny detail, our window was completely broken, just leaning against the wall :D At that point things were so bad, it started to be funny. Oh, and yes, the walls are paper thin so you will hear everything! And seems that the crowd this hotel attracts doesn't really sleep. The party was all night long, and we wished we hadn't been invited! Oh... and can't forget to mention the neighborhood... Scary, comes to mind. Piles of trash, homeless people, and thugs hanging around. An around horrible place to stay.
