Pod Brooklyn

Love every Pod I have stayed at. They are beautiful, a great value and the nicest staff. The best bargain stay you can have in NY! The Pod Williamsburg is near so many great restaurants and coffee shops and one stop on the subway from Manhattan. You can also walk to a ferry that will take you to different parts of Williamsburg and over to Manhattan, which was really nice and had great views.

I've just completed my second stay at this hotel. A quick summary: Positives: Great location, decent hotel overall incl. the rooms, relaxed atmosphere, accommodating staff. Negatives: The hotel itself (not the guests) can be noisy, rather flimsy resort fee, uneven facilities. My daughter and I had a good stay overall. Rooms are small (hence the name 'Pod') but well thought out. There was a safe but no fridge*. Location is very good with plenty going on even within a stone's throw away. Public transportation is close by with buses around the corner and several subway lines within short walks with the Bedford Ave. L stop being the closest. Checkout is a generous noon and I was even able to extend this to 1pm without a problem. Staff seem very helpful which is not always a given these days. The environment can be noisy. On my last visit earlier in the year, my room was the closest one to the elevators. So, I could hear the very loud ping telling me the elevator was arriving all too clearly from my room. Bringing the volume down even slightly, if possible, would be good. On this trip, our room was noisy but for a different reason. The noise sounded like air conditioning but that was turned off. Upon investigation, it was actually coming from outside the window and was clearly from the rooftop HVAC machines they have. Opening the windows was therefore not an option. We were offered another room but it wasn't much better. Now onto the $22.95/night 'facility fees'. It could easily be argued that these fees are simply a clever device to make a room's base rate appear cheaper than it would otherwise be. After all, one pays the same for a $150 room as for a $120 room with a $30 fee. However, some hotels give you more value for the fee. I stayed at a Moxy last year which is just a few blocks from this place. For each night's facility/resort fee there, you get a 24-hour credit in their coffee bar downstairs. Here, there isn't much. Sure, they offer free bikes to explore the neighborhood and filtered water in the lobby. They also offer free coffee and tea but, strangely, only from 7am - 11am. It's pretty basic and often with long lines. On this trip, the usual location next to the lobby was closed for renovations (it turns out they're converting it into a cafe but it's not clear if it's theirs or if they're simply renting out the space). As such, the coffee machine and kettle were moved to their mezzanine area. That's also the area where many people work (they have seating with plenty of outlets) and hang out. Overall, I feel these facility fees should provide much more value. I want to like Pod and I actually do but with some reservations. I'd stay there again but would first check on the price and room conditions vis-a-vis the new cafe and the aforementioned fees. * It should be pointed out that one can apparently request a mini-fridge from reception. Unfortunately, I have only just found out about this having taken a quick look at their website. With that said, I'm sure they don't have that many so they're perhaps difficult to obtain during busy periods.

Wonderful place to stay in an interesting and cool bohemian feel area. My room was a clean and compact queen pod which was really comfy. The reception staff Ashley and Pablo were very kind and so helpful with an issue I had when changing a reservation for a show. I have no hesitation in recommending Pod Brooklyn for its location and staff.

Great location in the heart of Williamsburg. Close to bars, restaurants, bagels (Popup bagels around the corner, yum), Bedford subway station into Manhattan is two blocks away. Room was comfortable, shower was great (don't worry about the toilet in the shower, both work fine). I would stay here again.

Super location in midst of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Stayed in Queen Plus room which was spacious and well equipped. Hotel has lovely ambience with beautiful roof top garden and quiet outdoor sitting spaces. Staff are excellent.
