Baymont by Wyndham Socorro

The exterior and surroundings were disgusting. I felt very unsafe there as there were trashy people living there. I would not have gone outside after dark to walk my dog. The was garbage all around old had grills and cigarette butts. Renting to subsidized housing people.

Prices at some other hotels were very high so I decided to give this [new?] place a try. I was happy overall. It is an old-style motor-court motel. the room was clean and well equipped. Comfortable bed. There was one downside, the breakfast was minimal and it was not ready when I showed up in the morning, but that might have been my fault for getting the hour wrong?

We found a dead cockroach in the first room and some sort of bugs crawling on the headboard on one of the queen size beds. I went to the front office and told the front desk clerk (a young girl) that the room was unacceptable due to the mentioned issues and asked for another room. The front desk clerk nonchalantly gave me another key as if this sort of thing happens all the time. Upon checking the other room, no bugs but a strange odor. We decided not to stay and asked for a refund. I am still dealing with the Baymont motel and the third party Priceline who I booked it with in trying to obtain at least a partial refund. I do not recommend anyone staying at this motel. There is a fresh coat of paint and new laminate flooring in the rooms, but other than that it is still an old run down motel. This establishment definitely is not to Wyndham chain standards.

Room was very clean and equipped with nice TV, refrigerator and microwave. Will be staying here on all future trips through the area. It was the best motel experience we've had in a very long time.

Ok, but not great. Front desk check in was easy and informative, check out was as well. Room was mostly clean, but bathroom needs repair, calking had been falling out, mildew, the AC worked well but was loud, and the internet is not good as it continuously dropped out. The pool looked very nice but didn't use. Breakfast was minimally stocked and the coffee was cold and not refreshed. That said it was a place to stay.
