Residence Inn by Marriott Portsmouth

Stayed at the Residence Inn Portsmouth for a quick, one night stay using my Marriott Bonvoy Points. I did get an alert on my phone very early the day of my check-in (8AM) that my rooms was ready. Although my room was ready, I couldn't check in until later that evening. When I arrived, I was given my keys and provided some basic details about the hotel, breakfast hours, etc. The lobby does have complentary coffee, tea and hot choclate 24 hours a day. We arrived to our room and it was very clean. There was plenty of ice in the ice maker (which I always choose to dispose of and make new ice). Beds were comfortable. Shower was hot. We did eat dinner prior to our check-in. There isn't too much nearby and a car would be needed if you were going to explore the area. In the morning, breakfast was amazing. Fresh scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and some sort of egg dish. There was two waffle makers for waffles, bagels, yogurt and so much more. The breakfast staff was on top of things making sure you had everything you needed. All in all a great stay!

Hotel appears to be from ‘90’s, lacks design that newer residences have. Rooms were well over $300/night and 15 minutes from downtown. Upon checking out kitchen, I realized the light illuminating stovetop was out (this was the case in last Marriott too) as well as frig light. I was pleased that when I called desk, maintenance came up right away to fix, but doesn’t housekeeping open frig and turn on stove lights to clean? The mattress also was a back breaker. Lastly the bathroom has shower and WC behind door, leaving sink next to bed. I find this poor design, no privacy. Room could’ve also been cleaner-I cleaned up long hairs on bath floor and bed table was full of crumbs. Staff was super nice. All in all, dry poor value and I would not stay here again.

Hotel is accessible and quiet. Hotel is clean and has everything you need. Holly welcomes us warmly and upgrades our room. The second day, the front desk gentleman prepared us a bag of ice for our cooler. What impressed more is the hotel staff went extra miles. They contacted me for a pillow where we forgot in the room. When we went back to pickup the pillow, we stayed in the hotel restaurant for lunch using the water, ice and utensils. They really treat us as hotel guests: it is heart felt that once you are their guests, you are always their guests. We will come back if we travel towards this part of the country.

A fine Residence Inn stay; not the newest property but reasonably maintained. Very comfortable bed. Better than normal breakfast offerings: eggs, sausage, breakfast sandwiches. Nice people at front desk. 5 mins off 1-95 and 10 mins into the touristy part of Portsmouth. I skipped the gym which is not my normal move because the elliptical machine looked to be about 30 years old. Other than that, no complaints and would stay again.

Rooms were great, spacious, nice staff, hot showers. Everything was clean and a bunch of room. A lot of pillows which I love. The staff was very helpful when we discovered there was no ice machine. They got ice from the kitchen for us. The breakfast was amazing. Alot of choices and a great deal of vegan choices as well. Would definitely stay here again.
