Holiday Inn Express McCook an IHG Hotel

Cleaner than most HIX properties. Looks nice when you first walk in. Fairly new hotel. Since I say over 100 nights a year in a hotel, I'm frustrated the price they charge for what you get. 1. Toilet that is smaller than the ones we had in first grade. They buy the cheapest toilets they can find. They don't flush well either. 2. Sliding shower door not installed level so it won't stay closed. 3. Shower rail not stainless, so it's rusting and isn't cleaned. 4. Glass shower doors are covered with lime stains, almost looks like frosted glass. 5. Shower faucet covered with lime stains. 6. Heater/AC very loud. But it works. On a positive note, they have two slow elevators instead of one and the public areas were clean. Room was cleaner than most, but that's because it's new.

Had 6 year olds with me that spotted these things first. They run into the room to pick a bed and they scream at a stained cover, looked like blood but idk, but I call for a new one. Then the 6 year old said some was on the ground and the staff apologized but didn’t know what else to do. After looking for blood on the ground we saw old m&m & nerds candies we didn’t have so the floor was not vacuumed too well, when I wiped up ice I wiped up a lot of other dirt & hair, you can feel it on your feet. I tried to ignore it. Kids found a white mark on door which I wiped off with water easily and then saw it looked like pop was splattered on the door and I had to use my nail to scrape it off so it was left on their for a good while to have to be scraped off. The phone was dusty. Looked like makeup stains on the towels. So this room was not inspected too well. Next morning I saw my 2nd pillow which was behind the first one, thank goodness, had the same looking stain on it. Other than that it was good and the staff was nice. But someone didn’t do a good job cleaning. Which makes me think what all else was not cleaned too well yuck but we survived so far!

Hands-down the dirtiest IHG-branded room in which I’ve ever stayed. Carpet not vacuumed, remnants of previous guests everywhere, dust on everything, so much soap scum on the shower doors that they looked like frosted glass. Dried per spots on bathroom floor. Filthy ring in toilet bowl. Broken alarm clock. Had I not arrived so late and tired I would’ve complained. Just needed a bed for the night and can only hope the sheets were clean. They appeared to be.

1 night, room 411, 1 A no reservation stay; the check-in person was friendly & prompt in getting me a room. He also found my membership info promptly. He also pointed me to a great restaurant. The main pluses: lots of luggage space on built-in shelf; large desk; valuables safe in closet; Keurig coffee maker; good bedside lamps; a comfortable easy-chair; large TV with an easy to use guide; room & bath very clean A couple of minuses: window does not open; only 1 towel bar but plenty of hooks; no tub I would definitely stay here again

Lacks basic cleanliness in rooms. Shower filthy, corroded, hair, doors stained, and did not notice until morning. Sign at entry says they follow CDC guidelines but they do not. No sign about masks being recommended, no masks on staff, food buffet, and yet they did not put out daily newspaper. Very disappointed as a decades long member.
