Usually Element and Marriott properties are a safe bet. You know exactly what you are going to get and it centers around hospitality and comfort. That is not what we found here at all. DO NOT STAY in this dump! Came for my sonās wedding.... could not have been more disappointed. We had a suite booked for my wife and I and another room for the groom and his brother. Check-in took way too long. The kid checking us in kept messing up and restarting the process and rebooting the credit card machine for incidentals. He found it odd and made several comments about how it was booked with one card and we were using a different card for incidentals when he asked for a credit card. In order to try and speed up this process we offered to give him whichever card he needed. Meanwhile we are holding up garment bags and formal gowns so they wont touch the ground. There was nowhere to set or hang them while this long process unfolded. A long line of people wanting to check in was forming behind us while the hangers continued to dig into our fingers and our drivers license and credit card numbers were being reviewed closer than passports by a border guard. Then he did it all again for the second room. We finally get to our room and it seems a bit unkept as we walk to it. The exit sign in the hallway was clearly damaged and hung from a a few wires, there was chips out of the shower and tiles in the bathroom, no extra sets of towels or pillows or blankets, etc. We noticed how cold it felt and turned the heat up to 72 and left for wedding festivities. Got back late and went to bed; worst night sleep ever as the heat never came on! Got up and turned it up to 76 but still no heat. Never mind the horrible traffic noise ALL night long. Seriously, just got back from NYC and the hotel there was much quieter. Went down to the desk that morning and told them, was told that the hotel is rarely sold out and the heat would need to be "turned on in the back" by them. It warmed up by the second day but was never comfortable. Later, had to go back and request that we have our room serviced. Someone who I believe was the manager said, well you had your do not disturb sign on the door (we put it on for the 10 minutes my wife showered at about 8:00 am. I again asked that the room be serviced and they agreed to bring more towels later in the afternoon. I didnāt mention the shower because the non existent water pressure was not enough to even talk about. Now letās talk about the breakfast offered each day. Itās the exact same; undercooked and rubbery bacon, cold sausage links, bland and rubbery scrambled eggs, cold pancakes, cold breakfast potatoes, and the normal hotel pastries and cold cereal. After the second night we were happy to leave for home. Wedding was great but this hotel is in my personal top 3 worst hotel experiences. Iām aware of several others there that had similar and worse experiences while we were there. Marriott should be embarrassed to include this dump in their portfolio of hotels. At the very least they need serious maintenance work, extensive staff training and different management to maintain a higher standard of service.

Facility run down. Not up to Marriott standards. Understaffed. Front desk incompetent and manager rude and unprofessional. Horrible experience. Rooms dirty and not serviced or supplied after first night I left and went to another hotel. Charged me for both nights.

Stayed here for 4 nights while the electricity was off in much of the city. It was an outstanding stay. They had a nice continental breakfast, a complete fitness room, and a laundry room. So, it was a nice place to be during our "staycation." The double queen junior suite was very spacious and comfortable. The neighborhood is nice with a nice park nearby and a lot of restaurants in the area. Please be advised that parking is 15 per day with in and out privileges. Also, the employees at the hotel are just great. Two that were memorable were Joe at the front desk and the girl at the front desk who is a student at the Univ. of Iowa. Forgot her name, but she was great at the front desk and checked me in like she was checking a friend in. Those 2 gave great service as did others, too. I would recommend this hotel. One suggestion would be to have some fresh oatmeal-like other Marriott properties do and not just the packets.

We stayed for 4 Days and really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was tasty and anything we needed Joe at the front desk was GREAT. He showed us the best places to eat (All within walking distance) and was more than helpful with anything we needed. The location was really nice, it was only 10 minutes from the zoo and close enough to the interstate it was easy to get around town.

I checked in late at night and did not see the bathroom until the next morning. It had not been cleaned (trust me, you do not want those details). I asked that it be cleaned that morning and was promised that it would be done within 30 minutes. Same promise 1 hour later. Same promise 1 1/2 later. 2 hours later, still not cleaned and was told they were too busy to clean it. I was allowed to clean the bathroom it on my own if I could find cleaning supplies. I located the cleaning person on my floor, borrowed her products and did an admittedly poor job of cleaning. I asked to speak to the manager - was told no management was on site for the weekend. I followed up the next week and tried to set a time to talk, but management (the same person responding to the online reviews) ceased all communications. Forgetting to clean a bathroom is one thing, but not cleaning it after notice is inexcusable as is "allowing" me to clean it and the lack of follow up from management. Four strikes is too many. I hope this is not a routine occurrence, but not worth the risk. I and the twenty or so other people I was with will not be staying her again.
