Aloft Raleigh Durham Airport Brier Creek

This is a great hotel near the university. Wonderful beds. Fell asleep immediately after a long day. Loved the coffee/tea makers in the room. Friendly staff and great service. Had a great view of the sunsets from my room. It is walking distance from most town sights and meeting points at the university. City transport also very near.

We selected this hotel near the Raleigh/Durham Airport since it seemed to be the only lodging that offers 24-hour airport shuttle service. It delivered, as promised, with a 5 a.m. shuttle which we signed up for at the reception desk and it was right on time for the 10-minute ride to the terminal. And our wake-up call was exactly at 4 a.m., as requested for our way-too-early flight. We found our king room to be comfortable and quiet, decorated with style and verve, plus a good-size bathroom. One drawback of our stay at this Aloft occurred when we arrived and there was a loud overflow party-hardy crowd in the lobby off a bit from the bar. When we first entered the hotel for check-in, it seemed as if we were the only ones not invited to this raucous party -- not exactly a welcoming event for tired travelers. Still, Aloft's advertised 24-hour airport shuttle did deliver at our early-hour departure time.

This hotel charges a credit card fee. Hotels insist on credit card and accept that charge via rate adjustments as part of doing business. This hotel charges but not informed until you see it on your bill. I travel a lot and this is the first hotel to charge a CC fee. This makes decision easier when staying in RDU. There are enough hotels in the area that accept CC fees or adjust their rates. This hotel wasn’t less expensive than the other hotels in the area.

I want to start by calling out the excellent staff here, who were omnipresent (in a good way,) and proactively asking to help at all turns. Specifically, Tina, who went out of her way to call an elevator for me and even step in and push the buttons when my hands were full, and Rasheed who drove an excellent shuttle but also was ready willing and able to help when not on a run. He even saw me walking in the neighborhood caught in a rian storm and offered me a ride back. Remembering guests in a busines shotel with mass turnover is no small feet, proacitvely acting on it is increidble! Otherwise the hotel was fine, and a typical aloft. Comfy bed, clean, but lots of maintenance issues (broken alarm, unlocked connecting door, etc.) and very limited amenities, but you know what you are getting.

rare find. very clean and well kept. beds are firm yet soft, very restful. large bathroom. hotel lounge very nice with highly skilled bartender and large FREE pool table. drinks were generous and medium priced (try the kinda dirty vodka martini). bar munchies were good, the seasoned fries were outstanding. morning coffee strong but not bitter. breakfast sandwiches are the best ever, I mean bacon & eggs on a roll with mixed greens and tomato relish. 5 star hotel shuttle took us to restaurants in nearby mall and picked us up when we were done eating. FREE PARKING.
