It was my 50th birthday trip for snowmobiling with two other couples. Originally, I reserved the Explorer Cabins which is right next door. They couldn’t guarantee the three cabins I’d rented would be together for the three couples so I canceled that reservation and booked with Hibernation Station back in October. Hibernation Station made notes and reserved specific cabin numbers for us and all the reservations were under my name and gave me every assist hat we would be together as it’s first come first served and I booked EARLY. When we arrived, we were told, “Sorry, your cabins aren’t together due to a burst water pipe”. They should’ve called us when they had to separate our cabins (not even close) and it wasn’t that busy so they could’ve put us at LEAST in the same row. It wasn’t important to me to have everyone close by and they didn’t communicate or even bother to try and fix it. When I called, after our stay and before leaving this review (at their request via email), the lady said she didn’t get why they didn’t put us in other cabins next to each other and she would call the manager and see what she could do to make it right. She never even called back. After thinking about it more than I wanted to, I called back to give them one last benefit of the doubt and she changed her tune said “it was out of our control”. Opposite of her understanding and commiserating with me two days prior. It just hashed everything up again and made me even more frustrated. The Explorer Cabins next door have fire pits and Hibernation Station didn’t BUT they did have an outdoor hot tub. We went to it after the second day of snowmobiling and it had two feet of snow piled up on the cover and when we pried the cover off the water was luke warm at best. No thank you. It wasn’t that expensive so I guess, in this case, we got what we got what we paid for. Once they got their money, they didn’t care about keeping their promises. Lame.

We stayed at the Hibernation Station December 27-31, 2024. We had a wonderful stay. We arrived around 3 pm and our room was ready. The check in process was easy and quick. Our cabin was cabin #1 and had been recently renovated. It was great in every way. Great location as we walked every where since we don’t drive on snow very well being from Alabama. I highly recommend staying here, I can’t think of anything we didn’t like. Next visit to West Yellowstone I’ll be staying at Hibernation Station.

My advice is to keep scrolling to find somewhere else. While everywhere around Yellowstone is expensive, I was expecting some relationship between the pictures on the web and the reality we discovered. No bedside light, soft and saggy mattress, no coffee machine in the room, no privacy as the view is directly onto driveway and not even a net curtain to help. No place to unpack our clothes. Apparently the staples only come with an upgraded room. To be fair we did get a microwave and bar fridge. Wow. At almost $300/night I was definitely expecting more. Maybe I’m just a fool but a roadside motel would have been comparable.

This establishment is free standing individual cabins of different sizes. The cabins only have one window so they are pretty private. Mine had a small kitchen. And a bathroom. And a living room/bedroom. It was quite clean. The wasn’t much noise for sleeping. The bed was exceedingly firm which wasn’t great for me. It’s walkable to town.

This place was amazing!!! It is located, literally 6 minutes from our cabin door to the Yellowstone West Entrance gate!! When we arrived we were greeted at the office by a wonderful young lady who was very friendly and helpful. She recommended a few places in town for us to check out for dinner and breakfast! She informed us that we were receiving a free upgrade. We originally booked the standard cabin, but we were upgraded to the Madison cabin. It was so charming!! When my husband and I walked in, we joked that we were going to move in! A double fireplace, jetted soaker tub, couch, 2 rocking chairs, coffeemaker, real coffee mugs, porch with a bench......The pictures tell it all!!! It was so cozy, rustic, clean, and inviting! Housekeeping was provided daily. The grounds were beautiful with a playground, sculptures, hanging lights in the evening!! On our second evening there, we walked up to town and checked out all the shops and grabbed some dinner! The town of West Yellowstone was adorable, with lots of cute souvenir shops and restaurants, all within walking distance of the Hibernation Station. If you are looking for a cute, rustic, fun place to stay, you can not go wrong with this choice!
