Tru by Hilton St. Louis Downtown

My wife and I live locally in Weldon Spring (about 30 miles west of downtown St. Louis) and we were here for a concert at Enterprise Center. I have no idea what the bad reviewers were talking about, but we didn't experience anywhere NEAR what they did (but, blowing things out of proportion isn't the social media way, right?). The only issue we had was there were no towels in our room! So, I called the front desk, got someone right away, they apologized and we got towels. All we needed was a basic standard room for the night. I wouldn't recommend any more than two people in a standard room because that's all the room there is. It was clean, the HVAC worked, the mini-fridge worked, bed was comfortable. Yes, there is a lot of noise outside because of punks thinking they're cool because they have a really loud car. But the hotel cannot do anything about that! Luckily, it did not go on all night long. Our valet parking worked flawlessly. Not long after we checked in, my wife realized she had left something she needed in the car. So we headed back down, they quickly brought our car back to us within 5 minutes. Even after check out, our car was retrieved in a matter of a few minutes. So aside from the lack of towels after we checked in, which was quickly ratified, we had a really nice stay!

The building itself is fairly decent, but it is terribly managed with little to no basic features. I can’t believe they are allowed to carry the Hilton name. 1) There is absolutely no drawers of any kind… All of your folded clothes would have to lay on the dirty windowsill. (Good luck if you have kids). 2) No one answers the phone at the front desk. Twice, I spent a minimum of 20 minutes until I got an answer. 3) Even though I specifically asked the front desk for fresh towels in the morning, they never arrived. (Let alone actually cleaning the room or making the bed… never happened). Ended up taking a shower that night with wet towels. 4) Sat on phone for 20 minutes before front desk answered and asked for valet to bring my car around. Arrived in lobby 20 minutes later to find 2 valet guys just sitting and relaxing in lobby. Asked where my car was and the guy says… “oh, nobody told me”. So, I wait ANOTHER 20 minutes for my car. I travel often, and Hiltons are my preferred hotel chain… this place is most definitely more like a big, badly run Motel 8. Stay away!!

This was my first stay in St. Louis. I was not familiar with the location. This location was an easy walk to all the locations downtown. Many eateries were also nearby the hotel. And the Gateway Arch was also an easy walk. My view was of the Central Library. My room was comfortable and clean. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The morning breakfast was enough for me. There was some construction going on. And it looked like they were still updating the floors. Only two of the three elevators were working when I was there.

Great stay for my son’s baseball tournament. Valet was nice. Always available. Didn’t have to wait to long at all. Rooms r good and functional. Nice shower and bathroom. And convenient location ! Walking distance to arch and stadium. Laundry was excellent and convenient right on our floor.

Nice, cool rooms in the heart of St. Louis. We enjoyed the layout of the hotel and the convenience to several locations. Some other reviews report feeling unsafe, but the staff were helpful and the area felt fine. We would definitely stay here again.
