Hampton Inn St. Joseph

As others have pointed out, this is an older property and is showing wear in a few places, but I still went with 5 stars because my room was spotless and the bed was quite comfortable. The breakfast was great and there was someone constantly refilling things and keeping the place clean. Every staff member I encountered was outstanding, so I am willing to overlook a little wear on the building.

Do NOT book here. While the staff were friendly & extremely helpful my room smelled dank upon arrival, the carpet was tacky/sticky, my lampshade had a stain on it, the tub was cracked, door hinges super rusted, and the toilet seat was broken.

Nice hotel. Clean and roomy. We just stayed came up for a class reunion so we just slept and got up and left the next morning. Bed wasn’t very comfortable and the parking lot needs to be bigger. We didn’t stay for breakfast so can’t rate the food.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! As other reviewers have stated this hotel is not up to Hampton Inn standards. I stay at Hamptons because their rooms smell fresh and clean. This is an older hotel that needs complete renovation. Our room was musty and stale. The AC unit looked new, was not connected to the wall control, and put out air that smelled terrible. The sitting chair was badly stained. The furniture doors were falling off. The bedside console plastic was torn away. The paint on the lamps was peeling. The worst was a multiple plug adapter plugged into one wall socket that had 5 different electrical cords plugged into it including a heavy duty extension cord. The staff were nice. There was no fresh fruit to grab and go. Hilton needs to look into relocating this hotel and building a new one somewhere else in St. Joes.

I would suggest that Hilton should get rid of this hotel in their chain due to the poor location and poor condition. Was very old facility close to freeway but in a lousy location in a depressed area in which many businesses were shut down and boarded up. Nothing within walking distance for dining and the closest decent establishments were on busy roads a distance away. Parking was limited and didn't seem that safe; vehicles with trailers took up large numbers of parking spaces and they should've been instructed to park in one of the vacant lots across the street. Carpets throughout the hotel were old and stained; the bedroom carpet especially was totally gross and feet or socks turned black immediately. Staff at the front desk were disengaged from guests and kept to themselves for most part. Breakfast was at least done well and kept clean and stocked. We had a dog and there were doggy pooh bags available and ample green space to walk. Sound deadening shades were nice to have. Would not stay here again.
