Rand Tower Hotel Minneapolis A Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Hotel is well located in downtown Minneapolis and appears to have gone thru some recent renovations. Rooms are clean and well appointed. First night there my thermostat was stuck at 78 degrees. I had to switch rooms at 1am as no amount of adjustments solved the problem. The hotel has a really cool restaurant on the 5th floor. That has now been turned into an event space. Main dining option is now the bar on the first floor. Menu isn’t the best

We were in town primarily to go to a Vikings game. The hotel staff were friendly, the bed and pillows were quite comfortable and the shower was awesome. You can access the skyway system from the hotel and walk all the way to the stadium in warmth.

The main door to enter the hotel is old, heavy and hard to push. I like that the skyway is attached so you have easy access to Nicollet mall. It’s very upscale business-like place, very roomy and spacious. You have to key up to even get to your room and the next door lot which I appreciate. My main complaint is parking is insanely expensive along with leisure items like a soda ($5). Valet is $56 a day although I read somewhere it was $30. Even the ramp next door is $20 every time you come in though the sign said it was a special “for the day”. We ended up parking there for one day then parking blocks away for $10-16 a day. It was very quiet on the floors but the area was loud. There are great restaurants within walking distance. I didn’t like how dim it was in the room. There was one light that was out. I’d rather have an iron than a steamer. Overall, service was great, just wish the parking was more reasonable.

Rude. Dismissive. Unhelpful. I prepaid and checked in online in advance due to super late arrival via a redeye from Anchorage. Upon arrival we discovered that staff had canceled the reservation as a “no show”. The desk staff to a person has been rude and unhelpful with one gentleman even suggesting that they couldn’t trust my credit card—the same card which had been charged in full 5 days prior! Although the physical property is quite nice, the staff is extremely rude. Expect disrespect.

The restaurants are empty with limited drink selection. Rooms are small, but well equipped. Location is decent, but the immediate area is quite dead. You have to walk a few blocks to get to anything. Coffee in the downstairs lobby is seven dollars for a large black.
