Cabins of Mackinaw

We stayed in the motel behind the cabins. It is a 2 story motel so a bit difficult for an older couple to lug suitcases up the outdoor stairs. Room was not very clean. I would not recommend this place to anyone, even on a budget. Cobwebs and such throughout. And the shower was extremely difficult to operate. It was very hard to adjust the water flow and temperature.

We had booked the honeymoon suite with a jacuzzi in the room because we needed time to get away and reconnect as a couple. When we arrived, the room that we reserved was unavailable. Instead, we were put in a two bedroom with a jacuzzi in the bathroom instead of in-room. We accepted the room because we would still have access to a private jacuzzi. When we began to fill the jacuzzi, water started pouring out from underneath the jacuzzi. We ended up not using it because we knew further use would damage the floor and we already noticed black mold growing in various places around the tub and dirt pouring out of the jets. We paid for something that was completely unavailable to us and dangerous to our health. We didn't report it at the time, because it was already late at night and just wanted to eat and go to sleep. We ordered pizza at a local pizza place and it took forever to arrive. The driver expressed difficulty in locating our cabin because the signs with the cabin numbers are small and dark colored and all of the exterior lights were burnt out on our cabin. What was supposed to be a romantic night turned into a colossal waste of time and money for us. This is unfortunate because the cabins are lovely but very poorly maintained.

Our cabin was very smelly. I checked the AC filter and it was filthy. I cleaned it as best I could. We ended up buying some cleaning supplies and air fresheners just to get through the two nights we stayed. There were no outdoor lights in the 2nd row of cabins. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

This place is filthy! Please read ALL the reviews before considering this place. We were given a cabin behind the newer cabins that was the size of a shed, falling apart. Cabin was musty, smelled like puke. Puke was found by the side of the bed. Carpet was dirty. Mold and cobwebs all over and dirty bathroom floors. Pool water was cloudy and dirty. Sheet did not fit the bed and mattress was not covered fully. I don't think there was a breakfast. Was not given information. Booking.com would not let me leave a review. Please stay somewhere else!

I cannot believe they actually rent out these old cabins. Nothing like the pictures . Dusty , dirty , moldy, musty . Asked for a refund before we brought our suitcases into the cabin & told no refund but we could upgrade for another fee . Curtain over door ripped & dirty , mold in the shower , stain on sheet , ( the gal did bring in clean bedding ) refrigerator dirty , cobwebs in bathroom . Coffe pot in bathroom & very dusty . Blind in bathroom dirty , windows dirty & no screens . Dust on headboard., carpet old & dirty . Chairs outside dirty . We had to go buy Lysol & clean the place . We called twice before booking to ask questions & make sure it was nice & clean . We were reassured it was older but very clean . It definitely wasn’t nice or clean . Will never be back here .
