The Townsend Hotel

Overall, my experience at the hotel was positive. The property is beautifully appointed, and the staff were friendly, professional, and eager to help—something I truly appreciated throughout my stay. That said, there were a couple of areas that fell short of expectations. The breakfast I ordered from the restaurant did not align with the price point. A simple meal of eggs and toast could not be executed properly, even after being sent back. At over $50, I expected a higher standard of quality and service. Additionally, while my reservation included a late check-out (as confirmed in the welcome letter at check-in), I was unfortunately not granted one when requested. This was disappointing and inconvenient, especially given the need. These details aside, I enjoyed the overall environment and service and hope to see these areas improved for future stays.

Their check-in process is smooth and graceful, making you feel less like a guest checking into a hotel and more like a welcomed friend returning home. Their knowledge of the property and local area is comprehensive, and their recommendations are thoughtfully tailored to each guest's preferences. The Rugby Grille's staff deserves special mention. They've mastered the art of anticipatory service – present when needed, discrete when appropriate. Their deep knowledge of the menu and wine list transforms each meal into a culinary journey, with recommendations that consistently hit the mark. Even the room service experience rises above typical hotel dining. The delivery staff member brings more than just food to your door – they bring personality and warmth to what could otherwise be a routine transaction. The attention to presentation and timing shows their commitment to maintaining the hotel's high standards even in in-room dining.

The hotel rooms are large, the location is perfect with great walkability to the town center as well as the park. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were there for a wedding and they were very helpful.

great staff. well-cared for luxury hotel thats endured for a long time the staff at the door and the desk and the restaurant are a really memorable asset here. convenient bedside button controls for the whole room. very good gym space. quite a few restaurants nearby.

Rooms/furniture are tired; some deferred maintenance evident in the rooms. Not the same premier hotel it was several years ago. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are updated. Shower was great. Price of room is higher than the value reasonably offered by a premier hotel.
