Hawthorne Hotel

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Hawthorne. Christine and all her staff were AMAZING. The food was amazing. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is so accommodating. Christine went above and beyond for us. We are forever grateful!

Nothing but positives to say about this place. Rooms are dated but modernized, if that makes sense. Rather small, but incredibly clean and very comfortable. Strong air conditioner too. That said, this is a historic hotel in the best location you could ask for, right in the centre of everything Salem, with the Salem Witch Museum basically across the street. There was even a cool little postcard to take as a souvenir in the room. Everything is walkable from the hotel pretty much. Staff were not only courteous, but had a great sense of humour too. Tons of parking for hotel guests too. Would absolutely stay here again.

We arrived rather late and found the receptionist very welcoming and friendly. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the bigger than usual bedroom. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Our room looked onto a street however we didn’t find it particularly noisy. We ate breakfast in the hotel one morning and it was delicious, in fact the portions were more than I needed. The hotel provided a small fridge in the room. The free onsite parking was a bonus. There was no safe available in the room, however the reception staff did offer to put our valuables in the hotel safe. Whilst I appreciated this as an international traveller I would have liked to be able to safely store my things in our room.

We always love having a nice dinner at The Tavern. The waitstaff are always friendly, Allison makes the best drinks and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. We had our first date at The Hawthorne and we continue the tradition of staying the night and having dinner to celebrate the occasion. We will be back!

We visited Salem for 2 nights - leaving today. We had a brilliant time! The Hawthorne hotel is quirky, welcoming and beautiful. It’s like stepping back in time. The staff were all lovely. The rooms, spacious, clean and quiet. The complimentary coffee in the morning and warm cider in the evenings were an excellent touch. Sadly, we did not have any spooky experiences! We probably won’t return to Salem now that we have seen it but if we did, we would return to the Hawthorne hotel!
