Whistler's Inn Bed & Breakfast

Being in Lenox was lovely, but my stay at Whistler's Inn was quite primitive. Whistler's Inn was built around the year 1790, and although electricity has been installed there not much else has changed since then. Since my bedroom could get quite chilly, I was provided with a space heater. For air conditioning, I could open or close the window about 3 inches.

Gorgeous old home full of antiques, books and even a grand piano. The owners are most hospitable and you will feel like family. Wonderful 4 nights of very quiet and comfortable sleep. Great hot showers once the hot water heater turned on. First night shower cool. We might have been the first guests of the season. Breakfast options good. Parking easy. Quick walk downhill to Lennox restaurants etc. Large grounds with hills for happy children and sweet doggies. Pets welcome. Very close to Tanglewood via optional scenic back roads. This home was built in 1867 and visitors will see walls needing minor repairs, but was not a big deal. The gardens were in bloom, including the gorgeous and fragrant wisteria. Looking forward to returning here!

Whistler’s Inn is a grand old mansion in the charming Berkshires town of Lenox. Everything about the property — its regal sitting and dining rooms, expansive garden, and just-near-enough location on the edge of the village — gives one a sense of Gilded Age life a hundred or more years ago. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed, clean bathroom, and a view of the large backyard garden. Breakfast is generous and tasty, and, because it’s served at a large banquet table, it’s accompanied by friendly intercourse with the Inn’s other guests. What made Whistler’s especially enjoyable were the Inn’s manager-hosts: Richard, Joan, and Lisa. All three are genuinely welcoming and helpful, and conversation was always intelligent and interesting. My wife and I were sorry to leave such nice company…I have a feeling we’ll be back!

I'd give it mixed reviews. It needs a deep cleaning and central air and some updates. It's a charming old house - lots of nooks and crannies. Some rooms have fireplaces and sitting areas. Our room is large and full of extra chairs, places to open up a suitcase, a huge armoir with extra pillows and blankets and space to put our unpacked stuff. We just went exploring empty rooms. Fun! The family that lives and runs it are wonderful. Full of interesting conversation. Artsy. Literary. Involved in the local music scene. The guests are mostly chatty. And it seems like they're all into yoga and eating healthy. And like most B&Bs people are warm and friendly. The owners told us they often have impromptu music gatherings. Lots of visiting musicians stay here. There are two pianos - one is a baby grand - and lots of music. I had fun playing a little on the baby grand. Earlier today we met a young woman who's studying to be a yoga instructor at Kripalu yoga center nearby. She said she'd be happy to do a yoga class for everyone. That part of it is amazing! Breakfast is a buffet of cold foods, and they'll make French toast or eggs or whatever to order. I had scrambled eggs. All kinds of baked goods. Fresh fruit. Tea. Coffee. Quiche. Yogurt. Not enough outlets. Only window AC in bedrooms. We really struggled to connect our devices. But there's a roku and we're able to get every streaming channel we get in Florida using our own id. Towels are small and thin. At first I thought I don't know if I'd put up with the inconveniences again. But it's so charming and it feels like a home. Like we're all vacationing and exploring together. I LOVE that! We had lovely times hanging out with other guests and the Inn family, just chatting, sharing travel stories. Lisa is a great resource for recommendations in the area. Everyone should visit Chocolate Springs - homemade gelato and the prettiest fancy variety of chocolate candy I’ve ever seen. The grounds are gorgeous, full of flowers and places to sit and just breathe.

We stayed here over the 4th of of July weekend and really enjoyed this place's hospitality! The hoise is beautifully decorated with antique elements and has a personal touch. The room we stayed in is small with very comfortable bed, quite, and very clean. The breakfast was also great with home made omelets, pastries, and a lot of varieties. The location is perfect within the short walking distance to Lenox center
