Aloft Portland Downtown Waterfront ME

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Lobby area is gorgeous. We stayed for just a weekend get away to come up and see friends. Valet is nice to have but expensive. This hotel is a little bit of a walk to most of the area stores, it’s kind of located on the far end but still very much walkable. We valeted our car the first day and didn’t use it again until we left.

I like Aloft hotels but on this trip we stayed at the Courtyard. However, one night, we walked over to the bar at the Aloft. A great vibe and Chris a wonderful bartender. Not only can he mix a very decent cocktail and suggest post-prandial digestifs, but he is a font of info as to where to go, what to do, and most importantly - this is Portland, after all - where to eat. By the way ask him about negotiating Portland's crazy parking regulations. (Shh, don't tell the valet.) This man is a treasure!

We had a great stay here - the check-in was easy and the front desk representative was friendly and welcoming. We were pleasantly surprised by how spacious our room was and really liked the layout (aside from the bathroom door being a sliding partition that didn’t close entirely). The room was very clean and decorated quirky which we liked - there was a diner kind of table and bench in the corner that was helpful and we had a mini fridge that had so much room and was actually really cold compared to the usual hotel mini fridge. The bartender, Chris, was awesome and gave us great recommendations. Loved the lobby area - the layout and many seating options and entertainment areas were super inviting (bar, tv areas, pool table, video game area, etc.) We would stay here again.

Nice location near the waterfront with an easy walk to many restaurants, bars and shops. My room had a water view. Everything felt fresh and new. The service was great. Also the price stood out as economical in a town where hotel costs are on the rise.
