The room was great: roomy and clean, BUT...... The hot tub did not work, the fireplace did not work. We went to check in and carried all out luggage only to find out we were in another building on the third floor (no elevator). We had to pack up drive over and haul everything up three flights. Our friends hot tub ran all night keeping them awake. Half the outlets were off. No apologies or adjustments offered when complaints were made. Don't bother to go to the restaurant. Unseasoned steak, cold veggies. All you can eat fish is a scam. Very slow to get seconds, very small portions, bad food. The noodles were rubbery, fish cold. Keep in mind this is a premium priced restaurant. I ordered the bacon wrapped scallops for 26 dollars. You get 4 small over cooked piece. Looks like hey used Bay scallops instead of the Sea scallops. Maybe they were cut in half. The scallops were completely covered in the bacon. The value is not worth the price. The only good meal was the risotto.

Excellent friendly service. The food was excellent and had a regional flare. We had Oysters Rockefeller, a medium rare ribeye and lobster risotto. If we were ever in the area again I would definitely go back. I love historical inns and this one didn't disappoint. They are obviously working on refurbishing the rooms but we had no complaints. These historical buildings are expensive to maintain and the only way they'll survive and be refurbished is if people stay in them. I hate it when people choose to stay in one and then complain that it's not brand new! And I also hate it when they're refurbished "remuddled" to the point that they look like an HGTV flipper stripped every bit of character out of them. Please don't go TOO far with the refresh! 😉

Upon entering the room the air freshener was overwhelming and toxic to my wife so we slept with the windows wide open. When we tried to get some warmth from the fireplace it didn't work. The amenities were sparse. No mini-fridge nor microwave. There was a coffee maker but no tea. There was an ice bucket but the only ice machine was one flight down and we're both handicapped. The continental breakfast was not worthy of the name. For the money we would have been much better off in the nearby Comfort Inn or Days Inn.

When we booked we were not told there was a wedding. As we checked in we were advised of wedding and it would be very noisy until 10 PM. We paid $289 for a very small room. The bathroom was a refurnished closet. Sink area was so small you could bruise your elbows brushing your teeth. The mattress was vey old and you could use a seat belt to keep you falling off. We did have dinner and the service was good. The food was edible and nothing spectacular. The continental breakfast was very marginal. Everything was prepackaged…. Except a blueberry cake and a fruit salad that was not ripe. There was frozen egg McMuffin that you would put in microwave… reminded me of 7-eleven. Quite frankly I would not stay there for half the price. On last quirky item; you are told not to leave a tip for housekeeping in the room but rather leave it at the front desk. Made me wonder if housekeeping received these tips.

Beautiful property! Friendly and welcoming staff. Very helpful. Do yourself a favor and eat dinner at the restaurant. Our food was phenomenal and we ordered 2 of the blueberry pies because it was so delicious! Nice, clean room with comfortable bed. Best place we stayed on our 5 night trip!
