First of all, the elevator was on the other side of the building, far away from access and it smelled like cigarettes. It was quite busy when I arrived due to a basketball camp, and someone pulled the fire alarm. Not the hotel's fault but just be aware. The rooms are strange, not very comfy, and way too expensive for what they give you. Also, the curtains didn't close all the way. The gym is the smallest I've ever seen with outdated equipment as the treadmill kept shutting down and giving me a good shock. I had a lot of luggage and there were no resources to help. Some of the staff were very passive aggressive. Anyways I switched over since there are much better hotels that will give you your bang for your buck in Bangor.

As an IHG Platinum Elite I have traveled the world with my partner for many years. Usually with IHG This is the first time that we have ever felt uncomfortable checking into a hotel as a gay couple. We used points to reserve the room and upon check-in the woman said "is that guy with you?" I said yes and gave her his name. I then asked if an upgrade was available with my status. I couldn't believe what I heard next. She said oh yes we always give upgrades to our Platinum and Diamond members...but I don't have one for YOU. I asked why and she said "all our suites are king beds with a sofa so I can't give that to you being 2 men". Then she and the other girl behind the desk said laughing "of course unless you 2 guys feel like snuggling tonight"! What? I should have walked out right then but was so shocked and uncomfortable with her homophobic slur I didn't want to "out" ourselves for fear of our safety. Who knew Bangor Maine was such a backward place? And as for the review, the carpets were dirty and smelly. The room was microscopic and the shower water had no pressure. Time to see if another hotel brand wants my business.

Stayed at this Holiday Inn for one night on our way home from holiday. The room was clean and the beds and pillows very comfortable. We were quite exhausted after a long day's drive and happy that there was an in house restaurant for dinner. The food was ok (not exceptional, but tasty). My husband had a burger and fries and I had pasta with chicken. My meal included a salad, and I found it quite strange and not very professional when it was delivered to the table and our waitress asked if I wanted a salad. I said I thought it was included to which she replied that it was - did I want it? At any rate, I declined as I wasn't that hungry. Likewise, when we were ordering a beer before dinner, the first several that we asked for (all on the menu) were not actually available, leaving us with a less than stellar selection. Breakfast the next morning (not included) was very good, although the staff seemed to be in a state of total confusion, citing how busy it was. There were about 5 tables with mostly just 2 people at each, and we waited quite awhile just to have our orders taken. However, I will say that our waitress was very apologetic for the wait, very sweet, and the food was very good.

We have stayed at Holiday Inn all across Canada but this was our first time staying at one in the USA. All of the staff were pleasant and the bed was fairly comfortable. Breakfast had a number of options and was overall good. Unfortunately, our room was dark and seemed to be a mash-up of leftover furniture. As we were on the first floor and looked into the courtyard there were constantly people walking by and looking in. The bathroom was tiny and even the door had been cut a bit on the side in order to get it open past the toilet. The flush of the toilet was extremely loud and we could hear other rooms flushing as well. The shower also had low water flow. We didn't have any towels but when I called the front desk someone quickly brought us a few. The stay was disappointingâ and not at all like our typical Holiday Inn stay.

Our usual stop from the mariimes to destinations south. Marisa, at the reception, is a credit to IHG. Very accommodating. I noticed her give special consideration to a guest who had limited mobility and find her a room more conveniently located than the guest had been assigned. Holiday inn is easily accessible from the highway, only minutes from downtown Bangor and several options nearby for supper, including their own restaurant, which serves a limited but very decent menu. Not an express, so no included breakfast. However, they do serve breakfast, and there is also a donut shop next door. Microwave, fridge, and good sized rooms.
