AC Hotel by Marriott Boston Cambridge

First room we were given was 79degrees upon arrival. We tried to get the cooling system to work but it would not- confirmed by a hotel employee. After we had unpacked we had to move to a room where the cooling system work. There was also no hair dryer in the first room but they brought one immediately when that was pointed out. This place is good for quick visits or just a place to sleep. Rooms are not spacious or posh but served the purpose we were there for.

We stayed here over Thanksgiving and enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly, the bar had some good options, and our room was very clean. Housekeeping is offered every other day, but we had no issues grabbing extra towels when needed. There's also a hydration station to get some filtered water and guest laundry machines. The gym was also small, but functional with all machines in good shape. There is also a pool on-site but we didn't bring suits for that. The reason for 4 instead of 5 is due to sound isolation in the rooms, and the parking lot situation. Not sure if my neighbor was blasting TV really loud or not, but we could hear enough noise to be annoying throughout the night. Didn't keep us up or wake us up, but when we were up, it was audible. Second, parking is a little annoying because the walkway from the lot to the hotel is uncovered and you need to validate your ticket at the front desk every time you come and go. Also, the driveway in front of the hotel is a bit narrow and going through it to get to the parking structure when other cars are parked there can be tight. None of these issues would prevent me from booking this hotel when I'm back in the area though. Charging notes - make sure you have the ChargePoint app on your phone if you plan on charging there. There are 6 charging posts with 2 J1772 plugs each across levels 3-5 of the parking structure. They provide ~6.6kW charging with 1 vehicle plugged in, but is cut to 3.3.kW if a second vehicle plugs into the same post. I would recommend starting level 5 if you want to reduce the chance of others plugging in next to you.

This is a good option if you need to be near Harvard Sq. and do not want to spend so much money on other properties closer to the Ivory Tower. I booked a rather long stay and luckily was able to get a third party reseller prepaid rate which was relatively affordable for that area. The hotel's site and Marriott Bonvoy have significantly higher rates and cannot match those rates. The hotel is not full service but it is clean and relatively new. The quiet side of the property faces a corporate park and a real park (Alewife Nature Reserve) The Alewife T Station is only 7 minutes walking and from there it is 9 minutes to Harvard Sq. via Davis Sq. and Porter Sq. In the morning that is great. When you return at night it gets more challenging as the property is only accessable in one direction of the Alewife Parkway or else you have to take a long route so Uber from the station is not an option. You have to walk or bike from the Station. Just beware of your surroundings. Overall it does not feel unsafe though. You can also rent a BlueBike and pedal to your destination as there are fairly decent biking lanes all the way to Harvard Sq. A good 15 to 20 minute walk will take you to a couple strip malls which house a Whole Foods, CVS, TJ Maxx, and, most importantly Trader Joe's. There are two restaurants within a shorter walking distance. Summer Shack and Craft. Bothof which are pretty good but close early. Breakfast is not stellar but OK. There is an in premise laundromat and microwaves in every floor for longer stays like mine. There is also in room coffee. You need to ask if you want your room made up every day though. Otherwise it is only every other day. There is a Tapas Bar in the Lobby and a small shop for basic stuff next to the reception desk. There is coffee and or tea and water in the lobby all day long.

Wonderful hotel in a quiet location! Front desk was very professional, efficient, welcoming upon check-in. Our room was a nice size with appreciated amenities including a refrigerator. Modern decor made the room feel airy and spacious. Breakfast is delicious and a nice addition in the mornings. Would definitely stay when we next visit this area.

Stayed one night at the AC, but would go back anytime. Nice recent hotel, good comfort,easy parking. The neighborhood is nice with a park adjacent to the hotel. It is close to the Alewife Station, so it's a good choice if you don't want to drive in Boston.
