Royal Frenchmen Hotel and Bar

Terrible service. Don't waste your time. But you don't have to believe me though. Just call their number and see if anyone answers. If no one answers, then know that I'm right and it's not worth the terrible service. If someone answers, then good luck!

Great location on Frenchmen and Royal street! Literally 1 minute walk to food, alcohol, music and parades. Charming rooms and hotel. Room was mostly clean. Bar and bartenders were great! Desk clerks were OK- don't seem to know anything- no help there. Breakfast consisted of bagels, yogurt or granola bars. No hairdryer and no help getting one. I bought and left a hairdryer for the next person who stays there lol! No daily housekeeping even though it said there would be on the site when I booked. Issues with the door lock. They have a band that plays in the hotel until anywhere from midnight to 2:30 in the morning. Good bands, but our room was right on the courtyard so we could hear everything- including random people shouting all night in the courtyard literally seated right by our door. In my opinion they should cut off any people who are not staying at the hotel from going into the courtyard after midnight. Shouldn't their priorities lie with their actual patrons that are staying there instead of randoms looking to party? If I was in my 20's or 30's this hotel would be right up my alley. The great location made up for the negatives and for not sleeping LOL!

I made a reservation at the Royal Frenchman for two nights at the conclusion of a cruise. When I got to the hotel at 11am I was told the room was not ready. I then sat for three hours. When I enquired at 2:30 I was told there was a note on my reservation that I had been upgraded at no charge but the room was not ready. At 3pm I enquired again. She said let me go see if the room is ready. She returned and played with her computer. Then she said it looks like we overbooked and we do not have a room for you. But, do not worry, you will get a refund. I asked her what I was supposed to do. She said "that's not my job." I found another hotel and Uber'd there. Now back at home, I find out the hotel charged me again for that first night. And, I have not received any refund. I called the hotel but no one returns my call.

Really good spot and great live music ...the mixologist at the front bar let it down though. We were new in town so this was one of our first impressions, and he was a pretty unfriendly guy, didn't really nail either of the cocktails we asked for (also had never heard of a Bramble, which is an IBA-recognised classic) and in general took himself way too seriously while treating us with what felt almost like contempt, possibly for daring to ask for a specific cocktail? Even though we said we were happy for him to add his own twist. Give your head a wobble!
