My wife and I stayed at the Sonesta ES Suites Baton Rouge University at Southgate this past weekend (Nov 29th - 01 Dec) for a LSU football game. While checking in, the front desk clerk mentioned the water is secured due to a water leak with one of the connected establishments. I asked when was it shutoff and how long before the water would return. She said, "it was turned off about 3:00pm and the water would be turned back on by early evening. In the meantime, they were given out gallons of water for personal use." When we left around 6:00pm the water had not returned to the hotel. I inquired about the status and was told "it should be turned on anytime now." We returned back to the hotel around 11:00 only to be told the water was not on. I inquired again about the service and was told "the patch was completed and the service would return by early morning." We woke up at 6:00am to no water. I returned to the desk asking for the status and was "told the water would be turned on today." I asked for two gallons of water so we could "rise off," but was told "they are out of gallons of water then was handed three small bottles of water." I inquired why someone didn't go buy additional water and was told "the manager did not tell them to do so." As I was heading to a store (less than a mile away) to buy water, I spoke to another employee in the elevator who told me the water was secured Friday morning not afternoon. This was after four front desk employees had told me it was around 3:00p.m. I understand the water leak was not within the hotel, but the management could have been more proactive. Maybe call the incoming customers Friday morning when the water was secured to explain the issue and bought additional gallons of water instead of handing out small drinking bottles. I should also add, our room was not serviced Saturday while we were out. Sunday morning we woke up with the "close out receipt" under the door. I figured Sonesta managment would have made it right by reducing the cost of the room (943.00), but no full price was charged.

Having personally stayed at this property before the rooms have not been kept up IMO The toilet ran ever so often and woke me up multiple times over the 2 night stay. Very annoying. Kitchen sink was very slow draining as was shower. Shower actually would run onto the floor and I used more towels to keep floor dry so I didnt fall than I did to dry myself off. Shower and toilet appeared uncleaned for generations. The dishwasher was free floating (almost fell out of the "enclosure" or lack there of) when I opened it to insert dishes. Carpets were cleaned well as were the bed linens and pillows/cases. Breakfast was very good! The A/C was working very nicely after a long day in the sun. TV sizes were perfect with wide selection of programming. Was nice to crack window a little and get fresh, cool morning air before a long day of work. There are quite a wide variety of GOOD food selections with in walking distance. The running, nasty toilet and dirty shower were deal breakers but not bad enough lose $300. May return. May not. PS: Room 301

I would not stay here again. The bed was clean, but that was it. There were a couple of spots in the kitchen (the floor and the counter) that showed evidence of pizza or spaghetti sauce. The dispensers in the shower were not refilled. The pillows seem fluffy, but I woke up several time with my head on the mattress and the sides of the pillows by my ears. Breakfast was free. You get what you pay for.

Great location for a baseball weekend. It was clean and quite, and it wasn't very busy. With traffic being what it is in B.R., it was located close enough to where we wanted to go. Currently booked for the remainder of the season for home games.
