The hotel and room were clean and they had a nice breakfast. It is within a walkable distance from the French Quarter, but it takes about 25 minutes to get to Jackson Square. So, there were times we did a ride share to get back and forth to the hotel because we were tired of walking. I had wished we were a little bit closer to the French Quarter, but it was also nice to be away from the noise of everything. Especially since we were there during the NYE attack. That sounds callous, but we were so sad and shaken, that we were glad to have some distance from the area. The hotel has a beautiful roof top patio, with a nice view of Canal St and the city, and a small bar. The lobby is very nice, and a couple times we ordered take out and ate in the lobby and played cards. They have a little pantry-like area where you can get wine, snacks, toiletries and candy, and have it charged to your room. Being there in the winter, the lobby/dining area was very cold and we had to bundle up when we knew were going to be down there for much time (the front doors are not airtight at all.) We had five people and got a room with 2 queens and a pull-out couch. It was a nice room, but our biggest issue was the towel situation and housekeeping. For a 6 person room, there was one low towel bar, appropriate for a hand towel, and one hook, despite there being PLENTY of wall space to put more towel bars in the large bathroom. We actually put the big ottoman in the bathroom so we had someplace dry to put our clothes while showering. We were also only given two sets of towels, though they were quick to bring us more upon request. A notice in the bathroom stated that cleaning would be done every two days and to put the towels on the floor if we wanted clean towels. If the towels were hung up, they would not change the towels. Well, there was no place to hang the towels, so every morning I would ask housekeeping for new towels. On the day we expected to have the room cleaned, we just left the towels on the floor, but no one cleaned the room that day. The person at the front desk said that it was on the list to be cleaned the following day. Didn't get cleaned then too. I was then told by housekeeping and another person at the front desk that we were supposed to notify the front desk by 9 am that morning if we wanted our room cleaned. There was nothing in the room that said that, and it contradicted what the front desk person said the day before. We asked them to bring us new towels, take our trash, and give us toilet paper because we were out. They did so quickly....and then the next day they knocked on our door to clean when we had not called for it. Clearly there is confusion among the staff about when rooms should be cleaned. For being such a nice hotel, I was surprised the towels were thin, but I think that may be because the ventilation is not great. Every time we returned to our room, the air felt damp. It appeared that the air turned off when we left. It quickly dried out once we were back in the room. The towels that we did manage to hang never really got dry. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there. If you want to be in the center of things, this is not the place for you. If you don't mind walking a bit before getting to the center of things, this is a great location. However, if you have a big group, want plush towels, and don't want to have to think about getting more towels every day, then you might want to pass on this. I will say that the front desk and housekeeping were very quick to get what we needed.

I am a life time Titanium member with Marriott and have over 1,300 night stays. By far this is the worst Marriott I have ever stayed at in over 30 years of travel. First off I think I got ripped off. This is no where near the quality of any of the Marriott SpringHill Suites I have ever stayed at. I paid $250 a night for lousy cheap room. The floors were not carpeted, the room was not clean, and we didn't have hot water for most of our stay. I should have taken notice when I went to check-in and the credit card reader didn't work and the staff member wasn't very neat. Then I had to recheck-in with a parking lot attendant and go through the same process to discover that parking was two blocks down in an open lot on Canal street at $25 per night. I had to hoof it down the road and got soaked twice. The room next to us left their dinner trash out in the hallway that sat there for two days. Few of the staff were friendly and the place was super noisy with racket all night long that kept us up. Do not stay here. Terrible experience and Marriott should be ashamed of themselves for marketing this hotel as one of their more upscale properties in New Orleans. I have stayed in most of the Marriott properties in New Orleans, so choose almost any other downtown for a good experience.

Comfortable beds, fantastic breakfast, all the staff we encountered were polite and very helpful. Parking is 20 dollars a night. Parking lot is across the street, appears relatively safe. Area is walking distance to great areas. Street car is close by. Cons of the room, lighting is awful especially in bathroom. Woman...bring your own makeup mirror. Bar fridge, mediocre at best. Rooms are clean.
