Holiday Inn Express Hutchinson an IHG Hotel

Sadly, this was not our most pleasant of stays. Firstly there were No towels in room upon checking in later in day, it felt as if the housekeeping service was half finished. The front desk did give us all the towels we asked for, but having to stock the room myself was a bit of a pain. In the pool area there were Very few towels, again as if housekeeping was short staffed that day and only some things got finished. Overall the Room was dirty, not vacuumed at all. There were no spare linens for the pull out couch and we had to ask for additional, and got ones with large stains and holes in them. For a ‘Newer’ hotel, all the furniture was well worn, stained carpet with holes and stained comforter on the beds. We were Not impressed with the presentation of rooms, and we usually stay in IHG hotels and this was below par. This is minor but it was also Missing coffee pod and other toiletries usually in the rooms. Not to add insult to injury but the Fan vent in the bathroom didn’t work, just hummed, leaving a very humid room. At that point we had enough and moved on to another town after one night.

The place is clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good. Front desk staff very helpful with restaurant suggestions. Would definitely stay again. Close to a lot of restaurants and Cosmosphere. Never went more than 10 minutes to any of the places needed.

This is about the city of Hutchinson, Kansas and not any specific business. The motel where we stayed was old and run down but the manager was very nice. We ate at Skaets Steak House by the fairgrounds and Village Inn. Both places had good food and all the people were friendly. We lived in Hutchinson about 40 years ago and we were dismayed at how run down a lot of the town was. Houses that needed paint, grass mowed and trees trimmed or some just needed to be torn down because they were falling apart. The town as a whole broke my heart but the people were friendly and nice.

The room was large and clean. The front desk is only sometimes manned so the door is locked and you have to call to check in. They have elaborate instructions about who and what to call so this must be usual. Constant signs about quiet hours make me feel like they've had problems with party guests. It was very quiet. The gog fee is $36, even though I was charged 25 on check in. An additional 10.38 was charged overnight on my card. Bait and switch once they have your card.

Everyone we talked to on staff was helpful and friendly. Had some special timing requests to fit a wedding schedule and they worked with us. Room was clean and comfy. Fitness room equipment worked well.
