TownePlace Suites by Marriott Des Moines West Jordan Creek

The location of the hotel is the only thing it has going for it-close to shopping and restaurants. Also the breakfast area was clean and they provide both hot and cold items for breakfast. We had a room with two suites. The rooms are very old and in poor condition. Lots of scraped walls, patched holes in walls, dirty stove top, and a severe lack of lighting-suggest a floor lamp and end table lamps. The door to the pool was full of rust-didn't even want to touch it. The women working the front desk were helpful and professional, however the male we encountered on 11/25 was rude with 'attitude.' In addition, there appeared to be a lack of communication between shifts. The DirectTV was 'down' for the whole hotel on Friday upon check-in, but when was asked at the desk for an update on Saturday, the associate didn't seem to know there was an outage. Being avid football fans, this was going to be a big part of our trip, but it was not to be.

This was my first stay with this brand and I was very impressed. I did not make the reservation. The room included a mini-kitchen of refrigerator and two-burner countertop complete with pots, plates, cups, etc. and all were in excellent condition. I did not use the kitchen. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was in excellent condition and had a good sized closet to hang clothes. I don't normally review beds since they are very subjective. It was very good. The hotel was busy because of weekend events and it was still quiet and easy. The outdoor patio was clean and in great condition, and a nice touch! Breakfast included typical hot foods. All was well supplied and a good variety of traditional hot and cold foods. Plenty of shopping and restaurants either in a walk or short drive. Great stay!

We stayed only one short night. The staff was pleasant and friendly. There were enough sheets for the pullout couch bed without having to ask. The room was decent sized and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty standard offerings but was good. It was what we expected.

Quiet, modern and convenient. Will stay here again. Breakfast is nicely presented. Check in effortless. Recommended! The mall is nearby as are a variety of restaurants. 4th floor is very quiet - even next to the elevator. Breakfast on weekdays seems better than weekends

The location is fantastic, but everything else about this hotel was awful. I’m honestly surprised that this has the Marriot name attached to it as is has more of a Motel 6 vibe. We booked a 2 room suite with 2 king beds, but what we got was a dated, filthy 2 room suite with 2 queen beds. The door frames and baseboards of the room were covered with an inch thick layer of dust. The sheets of one bedroom had a large booger on the sheets. It took us two days to get fresh towels, only after asking, and the “daily housekeeping” did not occur once (despite our request) during a 3 night stay. You can tell this hotel was nice when it was first built, but whoever is currently mismanaging it is driving it into the ground. There are so many other hotels in the Jordan Creek area and they would all be a better choice. Unfortunately we booked last minute and were in town for a funeral or we would have changed hotels to anywhere else.
