Motel 6 Waterloo IA

I use to go to this hotel often but when they changed their policy to add a deposit of $100....not only does it tie up your card until they return it.....but afterwards....they didn't return it. So my policy is....if I have to put down a deposit....I'm no longer staying at the hotel!!

I've always enjoyed staying here. Rooms are clean and staff is friendly. Unfortunately, it's went downhill lately. Shady characters hanging in lobby and outside by front door all day and night. A pair of gym shoes were sitting outside by the door. People sit in their cars blasting loud music. Room smelled like smoke. desk staff has their friends hanging out at all hours. It's seems to be rare to get a room that actually has towels. I don't think they have enough towels for each room. They need to order more.

Read the negative reviews from months ago and further. BELIEVE THEM. None of the issues brought up from past reviews have been dealt with in any way. Motel smelled like weed. Trashy parking lot and grounds. People loitering outside every entrance. Loud party with shouting and doors slamming till around 4AM, never addressed. Exterior doors that are supposed to be locked propped open all night. Run down rooms. They have what looks to be a good pool, but it was closed and we were not permitted to use it. Felt very unsafe and got very little sleep. Didn't shower because we did not want to use the disgusting tub. You get what you pay for, and we did get a night's stay for cheap, but $5-10 more would have been completely worth it. The woman at the desk was friendly, but this was just a bad, bad experience. I truly regretted my decision to stay here.

This is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Every inch of the hotel smelled like weed. The tv remote was missing batteries. The front counter staff wasn’t even fully dressed when we checked out. The window in our room was broken and no screen when we tried to breathe air without the skunk smell. Got almost no sleep. Blankets were stained and had burn holes. This place is a complete dump. Will NEVER stay here again.

Our experience was a overnight trip. The lobby was ok, our front desk person was polite. On our way to our room on the second floor there were 2 BB guns just sitting next to the exit sign (picture below). Wasn’t off to the best start. The room was a bit sparse, the smoke alarm was detached and placed on a shelf, one of the recessed lights is partially hanging out of the ceiling. We had 2 towels total plus a wash cloth. The room overall appeared to be clean just not stocked w necessity items. They allow pets which is great, however someone had a dog that barked non stop majority of the night. There was a lot of commotion all night in and out of rooms and hooting and hollering down the hallways. We assume that some guests are not guests but they live there, again an assumption but would explain some of the conversations we heard throughout the night. When we went to check out this morning there was no one around other than those outside smoking so we left the keys at the desk after waiting for someone to wait on us. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
