Super 8 by Wyndham Sheldon

We were totally disappointed right from the start. We checked in on a Sunday night for two nights. There was no one to be found at the front desk and after pressing the buzzer we waited for 5 minutes for the worker to come out of a room. The hall stinks of having too much chemical put down on the carpet. We walked into a very cold room and discovered that the heater was unplugged. The ceiling on room 114 bathroom has mould. The cracks in the floor were dirty, the shower head sprays water all over the place and the sink was heavily chipped. The bathroom heating lamp timer didn't work either. We were on a business trip and I wished we would have stayed somewhere else. There is a pool on site but the area is taped off and sign saying pool is closed. The "free" breakfast is super skimpy as well. We had to again wait for someone when we wanted to check out. Either Wyndham is letting this property run down or they are short staffed. I will gladly pay more for a motel in another town than stay in this property the next time that I am travelling to this area.

Do not stay here. The staff was ungodly rude and disrespectful. Not to mention our bed had bedbugs in it. When I bright this to the managers attention he accused us of lying and refused a refund. My husband took him to the room and showed him the bugs and then he said we would get our refund. Still haven’t gotten a refund. If the guy would have talked to us calmly I wouldn’t be leaving such a bad review but he screamed as soon as he saw us at the front desk. This is not a safe place for kids to be as there was groups of men just hanging out in the parking lot. The bathroom was clean but everything needs updated. The sink was covered in hard water rust and the blankets were rough. The manager claimed the bed sheets would prevent the bedbugs from getting us so they didn’t have them. I highly do not recommend this hotel and will never be back to a location like this again. I will say tho that the gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant and nice to work with. However his “boss” was absolutely terrible.

Motel is long overdue for a renovation. Been coming here every year for last 5 years and this will be the last unless it is free. Be aware that this is privately owned and not corporate run by Wyndham/ super 8. The owner is very nice and friendly but very low budget. The pool has been closed for 4 years. The towels look and feel like thin sheets of sand paper that you can see through. Rooms are very run down and filthy, they claim it’s due to lack of help. They will ask you upon check in if you would be needing maid service. The bedspreads haven’t been washed or replaced in at least 5 or more years. In fact everything in the rooms have not been updated or have had a good cleaning. All the decor looks of the 90’s. The breakfast is basically a waffle and a cup of coffee. I’ll just stop there. The only good thing is the $80 price on Expedia. But be prepared for a rough stay, bring your bleach and sanitizer.

This particular Super 8 USED to THE best place to stay in all of NW Iowa. I used to be a proud owner of Wyndham properties. They really need to pull their head out and upgrade....But I guess you get what you pay for. Holiday Inn used to be crap and they have become one of the best. God bless us all! 🇺🇲

I review many hotels each month and I must say I was rather surprised with this one. We have Wyndham Diamond Rewards and requested an upgrade to a Jacuzzi suite but was told that they were both down for repairs on the tub; however, we were upgraded to an excellent suite that was very well set up and worked well. There was an actual kitchenette with a sink. There was a "living room" arranged separate from where the bed was that made the suite feel like it was two rooms when it was really just one. The bed was a little soft for my taste but the room was Immaculately clean. The desk was large and was an excellent work space which is always important. In the morning the breakfast was rather lack luster, cereal, some waffles but not "hot breakfast" items like a standard Wyndham breakfast. The person who did our upgrade and checked us in and out I believe, was the owner. He was pleasant, accommodating, and got us checked in quickly. Over all, an excellent stay.
