Element Iowa City

My sister and I had an exceptional stay at this bike-themed hotel in downtown Iowa. The location was super convenient, and the unique blend of bicycle and bird decor was delightful. The hotel offered lobby bikes for guests to use, which was a fantastic touch. The breakfast, especially the grain bowls, was the best my sister has ever had, and the coffee was surprisingly good. Our room was spacious, with a small kitchen that made our stay even more comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, allowing an early check-in after a long drive and a late check-out when needed. This hotel truly exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it!

Great hotel with a great locaiton. We had 4 rooms (family trip to Iowa for Thanksgiving). I didn't look at two of the rooms but two were all nicely outfitted with a refrigerator and counter space and our king sized room had a living area so we could spend family time. Things I like about the Element: - the location is great -the television is easy to work and offers cable so you don't have to set up your own streaming -i like having a kitchen for a multi-day stay with family so there is a gathering space -the fitness center is clean and nice (it is very basic but is not crowded) -the lobby has a great happy hour -there is a breakfast which is very lively...i only got coffee, but people seemed to enjoy the offerings Things I don't love about the Element: -The bathrooms are small and the water is soft so the cheap shower floor gets slippery -The towels are not soft, they are very basic but this was not a luxurious pampering trip.

I gave this hotel a poor rating ONLY because of the lack of black out drapes on the windows. Perhaps this is petty to some people but I want to sleep when I get a hotel. I prefer a mostly dark room for sleeping and the screen type blinds on the windows did little to block out the city light. The rest of the room and hotel were excellent but please corporate higher ups, put some decent light blocking drapes on the windows.

Great hotel. Clean, efficient and nice. The cook to order breakfast was a great. A great value. I would recommend it to anyone visiting. Friendly staff too who went above and beyond. Location is excellent too within a short walk to the university and next door to lots of shops and restaurants.

Jeremiah at the Front Desk is a GEM! I watched him patiently help his colleague with tricky check in while assisting me with packages that were shipped to the hotel. The hotel is nice and new. Rooms spacious. Breakfast includes made to order eggs and today there was a breakfast sandwich special. Also a Chobani yogurt bar- never saw that before. Evening reception is self service with wine and beer.
