Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Fort Dodge an IHG Hotel

We stayed here in order to attend a funeral in a nearby town. We had a little time to explore Fort Dodge; there are a lot of food places nearby. Culver’s and Jimmy John’s are right next door. The hotel is relatively new, but beginning to have a few rough edges here and there. We originally booked a King Suite which I believe had a little kitchen, that’s maybe what we got. We were told we couldn’t stay above the second floor with a dog. There was almost nobody there when we stayed the last weekend in April, so not really sure why we couldn’t stay where we wanted. The rest of our family arrived a day later. Our key cards didn’t work the first day (you know the drill, take the luggage cart back down, etc). When our brother-in-law checked in the next day, his cards said room 206 and he opened the door and there was a lady in there. My wife went down to room 206 later and knocked on the door and the lady locked all the deadbolts and wouldn’t answer. My other brother-in-law and his wife arrived later and was told the first brother-in-law was in 206, so he knocked on 206 also. So, maybe you see those guys who take pictures of loose molding in the bathroom, I hate those pictures, hotels get older and it’s hard to keep up. This hotel had a lot of that stuff. Connie who makes the breakfasts is awesome and that part of it was really good, it’s the same stuff they have at all the other hotels except they don’t have a waffle maker, they have the pancake machine; when they work they are the bomb, but tend to problematical. The hot tub was coned off. The pool is small. If you have a dog, there’s plenty of space out back. You are supposed to use your key card to get in the back door, but it wasn’t locked. The people here were really nice, but definitely getting to be a second best property.

We were greeted with a warm welcome by Lori Lynn at the front desk. She also thanked us for being loyal members. The hotel was very clean. In the lobby, there were snacks and some bananas plus the coffee was fresh! We had requested on the reservation a room away from the elevator & ice machine and Lori Lynn was able to accommodate it. The room was a nice size with couch, desk, table with 2 chairs and chair with ottoman. Breakfast was a nice wide variety. Culver’s is a very short walk from the hotel. We look forward to staying there again.

Keeps going downhill. No one is keeping up with the property. It gets worse every time I go. Service is friendly. Breakfast is good, but the rooms are in terrible shape. Really needs some TLC, but it's the best option.

Dawn, Candice, and Elyssa always do a great job when I’m staying there. They are very thoughtful and have always been so helpful. Can’t say enough about these 3. They have always been able to find a room for me.

We were highly satisfied at this motel. The motel is exceptionally clean in the room and the beds were very comfortable. The motel staff was very polite. They have a delicious buffet breakfast. This is one of the nicest places we have stayed at in recent years. We plan to return.
