Residence Inn Des Moines Downtown

Worst experience I’ve had in a long time. Room was not clean, didn’t appear to he vacuumed as there was hair in many locations of the room. There were a group of young men wrestling on the floor above me until midnight literally shaking the ceiling fixtures in my room so when I go to call the front desk the phone isn’t working. To top it off this morning there is no hot water. However, the man at the desk, don’t know his name had spiked hair and was working at 11:00 am, could have cared less about any of my complaints and promptly dismissed me. No apology. As I waited for my car I could see that he was very busy watching videos on his phone. I cannot recommend this hotel nor will I stay here. Such a shame as I have stayed her in the past and it was top notch.

Stay away for awhile. Under major construction. Water is hard and slimmy. Rooms, lobby are a mess. We have exposed electrical wires in our room. Breakfast was good. Service was hit or miss now I'm just writing to get to 200 characters. The weather was good and we enjoyed the state fair

Unprofessional gave us an occupied room and over charged my card, couldn't talk to nobody until the next day . They told us the issue would get resolved and it hasn’t. I came three hours away and was very disappointed i will not be staying there again!

This hotel is great! We only stayed for one night and didn't utilize some if the amenities but there is a lot offered. The lobby is nice and welcoming and our group of 8 was able to socialize there while watching the game on TV. Guest rooms were set up with a smart floorplan, which contained a small kitchen and spacious living area. It would definitely be a good place to stay for many days. Rooms were clean. We did not use the pool but it looked nice. Breakfast was great with much to choose from. One of the better selections I've seen at a hotel. Maranda was the clerk/receptionist and she was very attentive to the guests and seemed to like her job.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights while visiting family. We liked the location as it’s very convenient to downtown downtown Des Moines. It’s located next to the Saturday Farmers Market and several good restaurants (e.g. Hessen Haus) and bars (e.g. El Bait Shop). Train noise could be a problem but I only heard it once at night. The rooms are very nice and spacious. There are televisions in the living room and the bedroom. Our bathroom could have been a little better, though. The shower/tub was dated looking and the door wouldn’t close without a major push. Parking is a bit of a hassle and costs $15. The parking lot is next to the hotel in the back. It has a separate elevator but it can be a hike to your room as the floors are very long. Breakfast was the best feature of the hotel. It is much better than what you get at an average Residence Inn. Among other things they have several excellent hot dishes, make-your-own waffles with a wide variety of toppings, several different hot sauces and salsas, and very good bagels. We liked the place and will likely stay here on future visits to Des Moines.
