Homewood Suites by Hilton Des Moines Airport

Be advised: do not check into this hotel via the Hilton app early. 99% of Hilton properties will work with you if there is a last minute disruption in your travel plans outside of your control. This is an independent Hilton property and they will not work with you; you will be billed regardless of circumstances, even if you are a Hilton Diamond member.

This hotel was so nice. Loved the room and coffee maker. Breakfast was good, with multiple options, and I slept like a baby. My only criticism is I booked with points (use or lose) and the first thing I was asked at check in was how many points it took for me to stay here. This was unnecessary and rude in my opinion. If I have the points, I can use them how I choose to.

Ants! As soon as we got to our room after check-in, we discovered ants in the bathroom sink area and also on the nightstand. We were graciously given a different room, but on our second night there, noticed an ant in the bathroom again. We only saw the one in the second room, but if that scout ever finds something, I'd hate to see what happens next. Also, we had requested a late checkout of 2 pm, which we have received at other Hilton hotels, including other Homewood, but for some reason, this specific hotel would not allow anything past 1 pm, and NOT because they were busy (there were only a dozen cars in the parking lot our last night there). It would be nice to receive the same treatment given by other hotels in the same chain.

I was there for a quick in and out. I returned my rental car and called the hotel. Hotel needed to verify my reservation before sending a shuttle. Then tells me their shuttle driver has gone home and I need to take a cab. Mind you it was only 7:50 on a weeknight and this hotel is definitely airport hotel. So it's not horrible , but it is a process to get a cab. I was waiving for the cab , and he kind of just sat there. Finally he gets out and says I need to go and register my ride at the booth . So I did and it only took an extra few minutes. Didnt have breakfast and they ended the dinner event at 7:00. So no dinner. Morning shuttle was good, but how can you not have your own shuttle until at 11:00 pm.

Clean, spacious, comfortable. Eco and allergy/asthma friendly with helpful, welcoming staff. Best stay close to dsm airport- out of the construction! We moved to this hotel after horrible experience at nearby Baymont and had a safe, comfortable night.
