Tru by Hilton Indianapolis Lawrence

Great hotel! The atmosphere was fun and inviting. The front desk lady was so friendly I should have gotten her name! Rooms were spacious. The beds are very comfortable. The only negatives were the pillows and the water pressure in the shower. The free breakfast was nice and convenient.

This is my second time staying here for business. It is a nice hotel in a very convenient location. There are several restaurants within an easy walking distance. It’s right next to Fort Harrison Park, with nice trails and open spaces for a jog or a leisurely walk. The staff are very friendly, The rooms are very comfortable, and the rates are very reasonable.

I've stayed at Tru by Hiltons before and this one was comparable, i.e. a good experience. We stayed there during the Indy 500 weekend, which meant that the rates were fairly steep. Though not the hotel's fault there was a lot of road construction around the area.

Last night we arrived at our hotel for the second night of our stay - room 429 - to find the fire alarm strobe lights going off in both the bedroom and bathroom. This was after midnight. We called the front desk but the staff member was hesitant to even come check out the situation. After she came up and verified what was going on we were told nothing could be done about it - hotel was sold out. The strobe effect was so intense it was uncomfortable to be in the room even for a few minutes. We ended up staying on a family members couch and came back the next morning to speak with the manager. He offered a refund of one night’s stay and there was another room available to move us to today. Overall the attitude was not apologetic or even sympathetic. It’s the least friendly Hilton property I’ve stayed in. On a positive note the room was clean and the bed very comfortable.

This hotel seems to be newer and is updated. This is one of Hilton's budget properties, but it does a nice job of covering the basics. Rooms are small but well appointed. There are ice machines with disposable buckets and water machines to refill water bottles. It was upsetting to find that the Peloton bike was nonoperational during my stay. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, but it also didn't have toe cages. I would stay here again if needed.
