I am a corporate account guest at this Hotel. My team and crew stay here for extended stays. It was recently brought up in conversation that each person has been charged a different “incidental” fee at check in. Most of my coworkers stated they were charged $25. I was charged $75. I was also informed by my supervisor that per our corporate contract, we are not be charged out of pocket for such fees. I checked out of my room on 1/21/25, I was informed the $75 charge would be released upon check out. Today is 1/30/25 and I have not received the reversal and my bank has no record of it. I contacted the hotel this morning to inquire about why it has not been received. The front desk agent I spoke with met me with hostility, rudeness, was loud on the phone and hung up on me numerous times when I asked for her name. She refused to take my information for management to contact me and told me no manager would be in today. When I asked about why I was charged more than other guests in my team, she stated they can charge what they feel like charging at checkin. Some are $10, $25 or what they see fit. These were her words, not mine. I realized then she was the agent that checked me in, she is an African American woman. I then asked her again, why was I (the only AA male in my crew) charged more than anyone else at check in. And she restated they charge what they feel like charging. I took this as racial profiling and unfair business practices by making assumptions based on appearance. I called back only to be hung up on and told when I asked for the persons name I was speaking with was told “ I told you that already!” I decided to write this review and post on all media outlets to make the public aware to book with caution and not to expect courtesy or professionalism when dealing with the front desk staff. they will gate keep from management, and if this is a management practice, they are avoiding accountability for their business practices.

The hotel is in a good location. The rooms have kitchenettes, which is a plus. Everything is clean and in good condition. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Guest laundry is available for free, just bring your own detergent. Other than free coffee there is no complimentary breakfast. The bathroom doesn't have any way to really hang up your towels. There were no sharp knives in the kitchen. No enough dishes either, no tablespoons, no cork screw, no scissors. So, our first trip to Meijer was for basic household items to make kitchen and bathroom more usable. I wouldn't mind paying a deposit, or "rent", if these items frequently get stolen. The only thing that I really disliked was that they advertise a pool, showing pictures of it on the website, and keep doing so even when there is no pool. The pool was shut down for repairs - and had been shut down for months. If that is the case, please take it off your website and notify guests. The overall experience was OK, we may come back (with adjusted expectations) if we're in Fort Wayne again.

Subject: Formal Complaint against Candlewood Suites Fort Wayne, An IHG Hotel Introduction: I would like to formally lodge a complaint against Candlewood Suites Fort Wayne, An IHG Hotel, regarding my recent stay at the establishment. My name is Robert Holocher, and I checked into the hotel on July 3, 2023, having made the reservation through CLC Lodging CrewFax. Unfortunately, my experience at the hotel was far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to bring these issues to your attention. Abstract: During my stay at Candlewood Suites, I encountered various problems, starting from the lack of knowledge among the hotel staff on how to process payments through CLC Lodging. This immediately caused confusion, as the front desk staff was unaware of the appropriate procedures. Arguments with Examples: 1. Lack of Knowledge and Harassment: Early on the following morning, I received repeated phone calls from the front desk manager, Mark, demanding payment for the reservation. Despite informing him that my reservation was made through CLC Lodging CrewFax, he failed to comprehend this and persisted in demanding payment without considering the alternative process. I was trying to resolve the issue by contacting CLC Lodging via phone, but Mark's constant interruptions hindered my ability to resolve the matter swiftly and efficiently. 2. Unprofessional Behavior and Involvement of Law Enforcement: Instead of showing understanding and patience, Mark started to behave unprofessionally. He prejudged both my wife and me, demonstrating a lack of empathy and respect. While attempting to resolve the payment issue, Mark took the extreme step of involving the authorities, leading to law enforcement officers entering the hotel premises to escort and trespass my wife and me. This unnecessary involvement of law enforcement was completely unjustified and only added to the distress of the situation. 3. Failure to Return Incidental Fee and Active Reservation: Additionally, I would like to highlight that the room was fully paid for by CLC Lodging, and thus, no payment was required from my end. Despite this, the hotel staff failed to refund the $50 Incidental fee. Furthermore, it is concerning to note that the reservation still appears as active, indicating a lack of organizational competence and attention to detail. Conclusion: In light of the aforementioned incidents, I am deeply disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience at Candlewood Suites Fort Wayne, An IHG Hotel. The lack of knowledge, unprofessional behavior, involvement of law enforcement without just cause, failure to refund the Incidental fee, and the persistence of an active reservation have collectively marred my stay. I kindly request a thorough investigation into this matter, along with appropriate disciplinary action against Mark for his unprofessional conduct. Furthermore, I urge the hotel management to rectify the payment issue promptly and refund the Incidental fee as per the hotel's policy. I expect a formal response addressing these concerns within a reasonable time frame. I trust that the management of Candlewood Suites will take this complaint seriously and undertake corrective measures to ensure that such unfortunate incidents are not repeated in the future. As a loyal customer of IHG hotels, I hope for a swift and satisfactory resolution to this matter, which will restore my faith in the brand. Sincerely, Robert Holocher

Had a mix of business and pleasure in Fort Wayne. Decided to stay here instead of New Haven where I usually go. Hotel is in a business complex, but you aren’t far from the many stores and restaurants around Lima Road, and downtown is a short drive away. Hotel is typical Candlewood- kitchen in room, lending library movies and games in lobby, satellite TV, and comfortable bed. Slept well. I did briefly use the indoor pool, but it was so cold outside (low teens by evening and a cold morning) the water didn’t feel inviting after being out. As with most Candlewoods there is a small area outside for a barbecue, but it was too cold to even consider that. Check in and check out was smooth too. Lately I have been varying my hotel locations when in Fort Wayne, and this one has made the rotation.

We stayed at this hotel for one night and it was a very pleasant stay. The guy working the front desk the night we checked in was excellent. We stayed in a 1-bedroom suite with a bedroom separate from the living room area. We had a family of 4 but only found 2 towels in the room. The guy working the front desk quickly got us 3 more. We also couldn't find a hair dryer anywhere in the room and he once again showed up at our room with a hair dryer shortly after we called. The bed was soft and even the bed in the fold out couch was fairly comfy compared to other hotel fold out couches I've been on. Wifi was strong enough on the 3rd floor to watch videos on YouTube without an issue. When we first got there, the traffic noise from the windows seemed loud. Eventually we realized the windows in both rooms were open slightly. This dishwasher was also extremely noisy but since we only stayed one night, we didn't run it until we were checking out. Given they have full kitchens in all rooms, they don't serve breakfast, something I overlooked when I booked the room. That was my fault for not noticing that but they do have a nicely stocked pantry that you can charge to your room. It's all on the honor system which makes me wonder how many people actually do pay for the things they take from there. If you want something else, there's a Costco across the street and a Meijer just up the road. For the size of the room, the rate was surprisingly low. I don't think I'd have any problem staying here again.
