Motel 6 Waukegan IL

July 2024 This was the absolute WORST hotel I’ve ever stayed at!!!! The only good thing is that is was close to the naval base for my daughters graduation so we roughed it out for her. The junkies are always by the pool!! We were told there is no military or aarp discount but the website says otherwise. Locks to side doors are supposed to be room key access only and they’re broken so there is nothing secure about the establishment. It looks nothing like the photos on the website which are a vibrant orange. There was mold in the bathroom so I’m sick now. The sink wouldn’t drain. Cockroaches in my sisters room and awful smells in the hallways. The bedding had stains and had to purchase our own. I’m surprised this is on the list of hotels to stay for graduation. Location is great but again that’s the only good thing about it. This place should be shut down!!!!

I have no problem with motel 6 per se they are usually ok but this one stunk, was unclean and littered with roaches. It was also overpriced they wanted 85 bucks a night in midweek loooool the rate should be 60 bucks anymore than that is daylight robbery

It was the worst experience I've ever had staying at a hotel. I know it's a cheap hotel, but at least you must feel safe wherever you are staying. The door lock of the building was broken. Since I made my reservation, I chose a non-smoking room, and when I arrived  the only one available it was smoking.  Today I arrived at my house after staying at the hotel for 3 nights, and when I open my suitcase,all my clothes smells like cigarettes.  It was loud all the night, people talking outside and steps were heard on the second floor during all the night.  Since the first night there was a fly in the room that never left, and it flew near my ear. Who can rest like that? with a smell of cigarettes, without security and with such noise. I hate to write this email, but I hope it will help improve, and other people do not go through this bad experience.

It said continental breakfast there was none The people up above us were fighting she's crying for him to stop hitting her!The phone in the room didn't work o had to call on mine to get help for her. The price i paid o could of stayed a night at a 5 star hotel never again!

This is a basic hotel, it is clean and feels safe, but it's not frills. It is definitely a good value for your money. They did a great job running the shuttle service to and from the Navy base. Dre at the front desk was gracious and polite and very helpful with tips on where to go and how to get around. My friend and I were charmed by him. The manager is also very kind (he congratulated me and asked how the ceremony went, which let me know he is paying attention to what is happening in his hotel, I didn't tell him why I was there.) He is very visible in his hotel and walks around and you can tell that he is paying attention to his guests' comfort and safety. At the same time he is very friendly and personable. The water pressure isn't good, the rooms are clean even if they could use some new bedspreads. I felt safe and well taken care of. It is a budget hotel, but I felt it was right on target with the price. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have 24 hour coffee available, most of the navy parents are leaving and coming in at all hours due to the schedules and flights, and I didn't get desperately- needed coffee either morning that I was there.
