Staybridge Suites Chicago Oakbrook Terrace an IHG Hotel

The hotel has lots of people staying on government programs (per the front desk) and the common areas smell of weed and cigarettes. The fire alarm went off around 4:30 am because they do not enforce no smoking and the alarm was so loud it could do permanent hearing damage. After being outside for 45 minutes we returned to our rooms when the fire department was leaving. Had 2pm Checkout for Diamond status, so we went back to bed just to be woken up again early by the cleaning staff asking when we would leave. Our do not disturb was out and we were knocked on a total of 3 times by the staff asking when we would checkout. I called down to have the front desk tell them to stop pestering and it finally stopped. I expressed disappointment upon leaving, but nothing was done. Seriously one of the worst experiences we have had, this place is a disaster.

I've been here 2 weeks, part of a long-term medical stay. I can't say enough good about this hotel. The staff, though, is what makes it fabulous (and I rarely use that word). They are all so friendly, extremely helpful, desirous of making the experience good, and quick to fix anything that is not quite right (in my case, a recalcitrant dishwasher!) Most important, the hotel is extremely clean, and they work hard to keep it so. Breakfasts are a bit boring, but the quality of the food is good, especially the fresh fruits. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, and if you like to walk, has plenty of areas to get a good walk in. Tons of stores and restaurants nearby. The room has a few short-comings, as in most hotels, but overall is very comfortable. I HIGHLY recommend staying here, and even going out of your way to do so.

We came to this hotel for a dance competition in the area. Staff was incredibly rude. The entire time we had to keep coming down to the desk to get our keys reactivated staff called the police on the girls when they practiced in a parking lot across the way from the hotel. The room is not up to par. I have stayed in several state bridges, and this was by far the worse. To get into the room, you had to hit it with your shoulder to get the door open. The door to the bedroom was missing Missing a door knob they were patched over holes of the wall. The hallways smelled like animals urine Especially the stairwell. The air conditioner was so loud that I could not sleep and the beds were not queen size beds. They were fulls at best. The elevator is extremely raggedy. Housekeeping left dirty sheets, and trash in the halls for long amounts of time. This hotel needs to be renovated and staff need to be fired and completely replaced for this to live up to the standards of other staybridges. I would never suggest this place to anyone. Also, this place does not have a pool. It just has a filthy murky man made pond in the back.

The hotel is clean with friendly staff. Great breakfast in a very nice, roomy lobby. It nice to have coffee all day. We didn't realize they had double beds and no queens. The rooms need updated. Minor things like cracks in the sink, etc. The thermostat didn't work right, and we had to open windows to cool it down. The ice machine in the refrigerator didn't work and just clicked all day and night. We reported it but then it was putting out slush. We had to buy ice. The elevator was old, slow, and clunky. We held our breath until the door opened. They have a big screen TV in the lobby, but they couldn't seem to locate the remote. One desk person said it should stay on the weather channel where another person gave us the remote the night before. For the price we got by. The main thing is it was clean.

We liked the friendly staff and the extended breakfast with cut fresh fruit, waffles, eggs, and sausage. Our Queen studio suite though was uncomfortable with a too soft bed, tv positioned so you had to twist to watch, and no towel bar in the shower area. Good location but we’d choose somewhere else next time.
