Homewood Suites by Hilton DecaturForsyth

I have stayed at this hotel many times, and it has completely gone downhill. There were signs that the hotel is under renovation. That part didn't bother me. It was the lobby that smelled like sewage upon our arrival. The breakfast area and hallways were sweltering hot. Our room was dated, tiles fell off the kitchen wall, the toilet didn't flush, the paint was all chipped off the bathroom door, and there was a large vomit or food stain down the couch. Our kids were bummed to see the hot tub had been removed in the pool area. There is no longer an evening manager reception as advertised. We tried to enjoy the outside area, but guests were smoking pot all around. Homewood Suites has always been our favorite hotel to stay at when in town, but unfortunately we won't be returning anytime soon.

Nice big room with plenty of space. Weird parking lot in front of building and hotel is next to a partially abandoned mall. Long road trip with older kids so appreciated a separate bedroom with two tv’s. We stayed here before heading to U of I for a football game and it wasn’t a bad drive to get there. We did have an issue finding a gas station nearby with a working air compressor to fill our tires. The breakfast was mediocre with the hot food over cooked.

This hotel is hands-down a 5+ star place to stay. We traveled to the area for a wedding and really wanted to be able to check-in "on time" or perhaps even a bit early if we arrived before 3:00 (perhaps 10-15 minutes), so that we could freshen-up and change clothes prior to the 4:00 wedding. When I called to ensure that our room would be ready, I explained our situation. The staff member I spoke with was understanding and ensured me that our room would be ready. When my sister and I arrived with our 80+ year old parents and was checking in (yes, about 10 minutes before 3:00), the front desk member stated, "oh yes, our guests attending a wedding - your room is ready and waiting for you!". I greatly appreciate that my earlier call and request had been shared with other staff members and they were able to stand behind the reply that our room would be ready for us. Beyond this unique situation, the hotel was clean and modern. The rooms and beds were comfortable. The buffet breakfast was hot and delicious with a large variety of choices. In addition, every staff member we encountered acknowledged us with a greeting and a smile. I also received a text during the evening checking how our stay was so far and to see if there was anything we needed. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel if you are looking for a clean, positive experience in the Decatur-Forsyth area.

I stayed here on a Friday and Saturday. Hotel is in a great location. You’re no more than 5-10 minutes from just about everything in town. It’s walking distance to a Texas Roadhouse. Place looks brand new inside and out. Staff is very friendly. Everyone I encountered talked to me. They have an outside courtyard where you can sit along with a grill that you can cook on. They also have a half-size basketball court. Pool and hot tub are inside. My suite was very clean, with A/C in both rooms and a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Lots of USB ports and good WiFi. I will definitely stay here next time I’m in town.

Very good stay here. Every staff member was friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. Clean and quiet rooms. One issue was the elevator was not working by the lobby, so had to walk down to the farther elevator. And then down to our room which was just over the lobby. Be aware that the hallway is LOOOOOONG! If elevator is still out. Other than that, great stay.
