This hotel has seen better days. The checkin area and lobby have peeling paint and broken chairs. Hall carpets need cleaning. Base board in room was torn off and not replaced. Thermostat in ac/heat unit did not work. Furniture in room was broken. Staff was friendly though.

Clean, quiet, convenient to town. Staff friendly and helpful. Down side is zero WiFi and zero laundry facilities as advertised on their website. Our room and bed are very comfortable and we enjoy the DirecTv which is what we have at home. The breakfast is OK, mostly carbs with little protein, very good coffee.

We recently spent 3 nights here. My final decision in choosing this hotel over others in the area were a pool and free breakfast. No breakfast was served and the indoor pool was green with visibly dirty sides. I inquired about breakfast and was told there were not enough rooms booked to offer breakfast. I asked about the pool on the first day and was told, "they just need to shock it, they do that at night" the pool remained green throughout our stay. I had read review regarding broken elevator, its still broken. Other than the above our stay was pleasant, the room was clean, and actually roomy compared to some I have stayed in. The fridge and microwave appeared old but were working. We would stay again if needed.

A friend made the reservations so it was our only option due our last minute decision to go on the trip. The exterior of the hotel had massive weeds and that enough told me the inside would be just as bad. The desk clerk was over worked and happy to tell us. We had a room on the 2nd floor and the elevator was broken. We had trouble almost every time we used a room key. At times the door wouldn't even lock. Our room smelled musty. Mold inside in the picture fram above the bed. A large pink spot on one wall. A poorly done patch job on the drywall by the bathroom. The bed..... a hole in one of the sheets. The blanket looked like it was from the Brady Bunch house. Old and pilly. No bugs. Candy wrappers behind the night stand. Cobwebs in the corner of the ceiling. The tv worked when it felt like it. A lady I chatted with in the parking lot said because the hotel is so close to the fairgrounds she overlooks the issues the hotel obviously has. For me to stay again I would bring my swiffer, a sweeper, my own bedding and a big can of lysol. I'd rather pay a little more and avoid issue after issue. Everyone has their own standards for a hotel and the Fairgrounds Inn does not pass my checklist . When I can't sleep because of the issues I cant recommend it .

Cleanliness is lacking, hair in the bed, not just one or two, but close to a dozen. Also, hair all over the bathroom. Thankful this will be our only trip to this location. Happiness is seeing the Fairground Inn in our rear view mirror!
