I was visiting Chicago with my 11 year old Grandson on his Spring break and booked the Hilton Mag. Mile because of the location and pool. When we arrived we found out the pool was not in service. ( I do wish I was informed of this before we got there.) Now having said that, I am still give them 5 stars. We had a GREAT stay. The location is awesome. Walking distance to many attractions and places to eat. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Valet was very efficient and easy to use. The hotel and room was very clean pretty much spotless. The room was made up everyday. I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

After her home had sustained damage, my 80 something year old friend was placed in this hotel by her insurance company. After agreeing to multiple weekly extensions for 6 weeks, the hotel informed her that they were not agreeing to honor the insurance company's request to extend her stay. No reason was given to my friend or to me. The hotel gave their "guest" 3 hours to vacate her room. My friend is elderly, and her health is compromised. She would not have been able to move herself, and certainly couldn't do so in a 3 hour time frame. What kind of place does this to a "guest", let alone a senior with with health issues.

There was good and there was not so good. The good - convenient location right downtown on the magnificent mile. Valet and bellhops were outstanding. The bad - room was older, needs updating for sure. Room was hot and stuffy when we got there so turned down the a/c. After unpacking and going down to get dinner and returning to the room, it was still stuffy and hot. The a/c was not working. Proceeded to open windows and messaged front desk. They told us that the hotel shuts the a/c off when the city is below certain temperature. So if you like your room hot and sweaty, then this is for you. If you like to control your room temperature, especially for the money you spent on the room, then find another hotel. We had to sleep with the windows open and of course, being right in the middle of Chicago, ambulances, cars, etc kept us all up every night. Never so glad to leave a hotel. Also, the extra spent to get a lake view is hardly that. Saw part of the lake and then tops of old buildings with trash everywhere, not a great view so get a city view

Carpeting is filthy. Shower appears dirty because it hasnāt been updated in so long but there was indeed hair in the drain (none of us used it for this reason) Sink faucet was so loose it wasnāt even really attached to the counter. Window latch is broken and screws hanging out. (We know because we had to open the windows in December because it was so hot, meanwhile thermostat said it was 65. Had to jiggle the toilet handle multiple times to stop it from running. Iām sad we spent our points on this. We are diamond members who have gone all over the world and never had it this bad. We are from Chicago and have stayed in every Chicago Hilton at Christmas with our kids and this is the only one we will not return to Only plus - staff is great. An update and maintenance checks would improve your hotel greatly.
