I am a very picky person so I researched many hotels for at least a month before deciding on this one. The location was ideal - a short walk from all the attractions, shopping, and restaurants. The room was clean, beds comfortable. The only issue was the sink faucet was weak. The valets and front desk staff were friendly. Breakfast was great, plenty of food. We would stay here again.

Excellent location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, numerous nearby restaurants, and gym and pool are great amenities! We were pleasantly surprised by the ample hot and cold breakfast buffet items. Pam, one of the breakfast team, made sure everything was in order and we had everything we needed. A bit of home away from home.

Great location only 3 blocks away from the Chicago River/Esplanade and 4 blocks away from Michigan Avenue. Great location to walk to most of the tourist attractions within 15-20 minutes. The check-in process was easy but....no early check-in. Upon arriving at 3pm, we could NOT check in early. (Normal check-in time is 4pm) We, along with about 20 others, were waiting in the main lobby area to check in. You may want to plan ahead to squeeze in some attractions or restaurants to kill some time before check-in, if needed. The room (1-bedroom suite) was great. Very well-maintained. Two large TVs with lots of channels, lots of outlets including USB and wireless options, comfortable beds, comfortable sofabed, lots of tables and sitting chairs, good water pressure and adequate temperature control units. My only gripe for the room would be the microwave...it was small, dated and underpowered. It took about two minutes to heat a slice of pizza so that the cheese can melt...any modern microwave would have accomplished that in about 30 seconds. The cleaning service was excellent...stopping by every morning to refresh the room and provide clean towels. They were very accommodating when being asked to come later in the morning/day. On the second floor, there was a fitness center, a pool and breakfast area (free from 7am - 10am every morning). I didn't use the pool or fitness center but the breakfast was what you'd expect...continental plus a few hot options (eggs, home fries...). Valet parking at $69 per night was very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. The valet attendants there were all very responsive...I never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes for the car. (The valet lot is about 2 blocks away, which is the same as the self parking to my understanding) You can also call ahead for them to retrieve your car. Overall, the staff was excellent. From front desk to valet attendants to cleaners...no issues at all. Very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Safe immediate area. There are restaurants and bars in the area that are lively into the evening hours. But as with visiting any large city, it is always a good idea to stay alert and be aware of your surroundings at all times. There were a few homeless people around but I never felt unsafe. Note that during the overnight hours (we observed this as we were leaving at 4am on our departure day) there is a security guard stationed near the lobby area...which is reassuring. Overall we had a great experience at the Hampton Inn...kudos to the staff for making our Chicago Visit a pleasure.

Breakfast Crew: I want to thank Pamela & Jay who managed the breakfast feast! They were friendly and eager to help when a customer needed extra clean up and support! I was blown away by their attentiveness and eagerness! I enjoyed chatting with them every single morning!

Very clean and affordable . Customer service was excellent. Great location to visit downtown areas. The breakfast was a little more than a standard hotel breakfast. I liked the safety feature of having to use your room key in the elevator. Overall great stay!
