Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mattoon an IHG Hotel

Do not stay here!!!! I have no idea how this hotel got any good reviews. I walked into my room and walked out! Dirty carpet with stains all over it! Old beat up furniture! Just nasty! I would keep driving to a new town like we had to. The front desk girl was nice. I hope she quits and goes to another hotel she can be proud of. This place is a motel. And not a good one. Beware!!!!

We traveled from Florida to visit family, and we arrived a lot sooner than expected. I called to see if we could possibly check in before the allotted time, I spoke with Matt at the front desk and he was beyond helpful! The hotel and room was very clean and convenient to everything. We will definitely book our next stay with them.

First, and most importantly, the room and hotel generally were very clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was not bad but not great. A luke-warm shower in the evenings was the best I could do. A morning shower seemed a little warmer. The air conditioner would only cool to 71 degrees despite setting it to 67. The furniture was all very worn and even damaged as was the carpet. It was fine for a business trip where I only really needed a shower and bed, although both of those left something to desire.

The pool and hot tub was closed for maintenance. The bed was hard as a park bench and so was the couch. The breakfast pancake machine was broken. People slammed doors and talked in the hallway. I stay at a lot of holiday inn express's and this is the worst one I have stayed at.

If you are looking for a hotel with top notch service, choose this hotel! Shelby greeted us with such warmth and willingness to help us with all our questions about the area! She went above and beyond for sure. Today James made it is mission to get us on the network we wanted to watch a movie on! He didn’t stop until we were all set. He too was very warm and kind. The people here make this hotel! I highly recommend staying here.
