This hotel is beautiful. The public areas are lush with beautiful plants. The views of the mountains from all over site were amazing. The main pool area was large with many chairs for relaxing. The pool design offered great ledges to play with our grandson. The rooms are spacious so you don’t feel cramped during a week stay. Anthony checked us in and checked us out. He was great. He explained everything and with our package explained the bill which was a challenge. If there was anything negative it might be the food options at different times of the day. For example the sushi restaurant was not open for lunch and there were no waiters offering drinks or snacks by the pool.

Our family stayed at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay for a week at the end of April. I am a picky traveler, but this hotel wowed me from many perspectives. The good: - Check-in fresh drink and lei are very nice and welcoming. The key is a cute stone bracelet. Very cute. - All restaurants and facilities (Fitness center, adult pool) face the stunning mountain and ocean view. The sunset is gorgeous - Hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Almost everyone has a customer-oriented and satisfaction attitude. The management must have done a great job training all these employees. Keep up the good work! - Plenty variety of fresh fruits in the lobby every day - Housekeeping cleans our room on time every day, twice a day. They even neatly folded all our clothes. - Food from the restaurants are tasty. - Plenty of daily activities. We tried Yoga, Pilate, and Metabolic Meltdown. Coaches Kevin and Bruno are SO nice. My daughter had a great workout with both of them. Their services are complimentary to the hotel guests. - Everywhere smells so good. - The decor of this hotel is fantastic. Everywhere is organic but tastefully decorated with wood, rock and metal that fit the nature surrounding. - Try the 2-hour complimentary Audi e-car test drive for the guest. It's a terrific experience. - The beach is private and the garden is lovely. Natural trees and water streams is right on the beach. - You can use text message to request almost every service such as more towels, valet, concierge etc. They almost immediately respond. - Room service is fast and the delivery guy is super friendly - SPF 30 and 50 sun lotion are provided in the pool shed. Very thoughtful The not so good: - Expensive expensive expensive... Hey, you are on vacation in the most beautiful hotel in Kauai with abundant top-notch services. Expect to bring money! - The breakfast buffet is almost $120 for two people, including tax and tips. The choices are so-so. I would expect more abundant choices, such as hot soup or a greater variety of choices. - Valet is $55 per day, mandatory for all guests. Self-parking is not an option - The Sandbox restaurant has amazing pizza and good eats. The service is SLOW. Our waitress took forever to take our order and didn't come to our table to even fill our water glasses. - The neighbor cafe has decent drinks and an ok quick eat. I wish they offered more selections of pastries. - Most of the popular activities, such as meditation or yoga, are fully booked two weeks ahead of time by the time we arrive. That's a little disappointing. - Not many water activities on the beach. My daughter wants to try a surfing lesson, but they don't have it at the property. I hope the hotel can increase its water sports offerings. This hotel earns 5-star rating from my experience.

This is by far the best resort on Kauai and my most favorite resort in Hawaii. It has the best beach and view among all the five-star properties we stayed at, and it has a very romantic ambiance. Needless to say, about the newly renovated room, building, and grounds. The food, service, and amenities were all great. We often feel that the Hawaiian resorts lack luxury compared to their Caribbean or Mexican counterparts, and this resort showed us that that's not always the case. This will be our goto resort in Kauai.

Hotel, Restaurant, Pool area and the whole surroundings are amazing with lots of plants and decoration. The pool area is really nice with palm trees, as well as the beach. Disadvantage: terasses do not have a roof, and sunbeds were messy after rain. Service is far away from 5 Star! Checkin: nobody showed us to our room Breakfast: one morning we were not able to get breakfast within 45 min.

What a fabulous week we just spent at 1 Hanalei! We stayed here years ago when it was the St Regis, and absolutely loved the remodel and everything about our amazing time at this hotel. Our family of four had connecting ocean view room and suite, which was a great configuration for a family with older kids. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, so welcoming for relaxing at any time of the day or evening - the sitting area felt like a cozy living room. We appreciated the refreshments and the wellness goodies provided! The service everywhere - restaurants, beach, poolside, valet, housekeeping, concierge - was wonderful. We found it to be friendly and helpful but not overbearing - it all felt very relaxed, which is just what we needed! We enjoyed everything — all the swimming areas, the beautiful pools, the gym and morning fitness classes, and the lovely spa. Both restaurants and the cafe were great, although Welina was a particular standout. We had everything on the menu at least twice :) And of course, the setting and building are stunning. I noticed some reviewers below complained about aspects of the open roof and neutral tone of the remodel - but we loved it. Felt very in keeping with the area and with 1 Hotel aesthetic generally. We can’t wait to come back someday!
