Days Inn by Wyndham Helen

I read lots of reviews of this motel before I booked a room and was a little hesitant to book a room there, but I had a great experience and would stay here again. When I was there, it was very quiet and my room was neat and clean. Only a couple of minor complaints -- I like to walk barefoot sometimes and my feet got dirty from the floor, the door was very hard to open (Rm 112), and the office was filled with cigarette smoke. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were a mixed lot, which I appreciated so I could pick the ones I wanted to use (but I took my own pillows as I always do). I loved the location as it was less than 5 minutes from downtown. I took my little dog which cost an extra $25 per day, which I had no problem with. I was walking my dog during the middle of the night a couple of times and felt completely safe. If I ever go back to Helen, I would stay here again and ask for the same room. Lots of fun shops and lots of good restaurants!!!!!

Our email Confirmation specified the charges. And we confirmed the charges with the desk clerk and she confirmed that ONLY those charges would be put on our bill. Yet when we checked out, they had added an additional $50. They refused to take it off the bill even though it was not consistent with either the Confirmation email nor what the desk clerk had told us. Lying is not acceptable nor is not complying with written confirmation letters!

This hotel will get you by advertising that they are newly renovated, but don’t let that fool you, from the moment you get there you will see that it’s not a clean place, the corridors leading to the rooms both down stairs and upstairs are filty, the hotel is noisy, both from adults talking loudly into the wee hours of the night or management kids running down the corridors, early mornings bumping your door, to the AC in the room so loud it sounded like a freight train each time it chips in, and it leaks water onto the floor. Also housekeeping don’t think that part of cleaning the room is to clean the floor. The floor in our room had spots all over it, you can clearly see that the past guest or past few guests had spill things on the floor, and house keeping is so NASTY that they left in just like that for the next guest to stay. I was not feeling well so i was not up to complaining while i was there, however i made sure my hubby and i bare feet never touch the floor. We will NEVER stay at another Days Inn, this was our first time and it will be our last. The charge us $184+ tx per nights Thru Booking.com and it was NOT worth it, not in the least, i feel like we were totally rip off. Last but not least, please remember to make sure you don’t leave anything in the room by accident when you leave, because they will throw it out, without giving you a chance to get it back, they did that to my electric toothbrush charger.

Worst hotel experience ever. See pictures for condition of room. The mattress was covered in plastic (can only assume it was soaked in blood or urine) and had a metal frame that made noise every time you moved. Room smelled of cigarette smoke. Booked 3 nights and left after 6 hours (didn’t sleep a wink) before even confirming if I could get a refund because it was a total NO GO. The manager accused me of lying and did not refund the first night. Check out other reviews (at least on booking.com) to see they have a pattern of the manager lying, rooms smelling of cigarettes, bug infestation and trash around the property).

They did some beautiful renovations to this hotel. It used to be pretty rundown, but now the new owners have renovated many rooms if not all. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, beds are comfy, great location next to the waterpark and walking trail that many people don’t know about. It’s a bit of a walk to downtown Helen, but you can walk it under a mile, or park over at the town park next to Hoffman‘s bakery for free and walk around there. The breakfast was standard ental, nothing fancy. I would definitely recommend this for a couples or families as the hotel and owners have truly done a great job updating this establishment
