I hardly know where to begin. I stayed at a Clarion in Charlotte a few months ago and had a great experience, so when I saw the reviews for this location, I assumed it would be similar. Unfortunately, that was not the case. First, this is a motel, not a hotel. All the rooms have exterior doors, which I would not have chosen if I had realized beforehandâespecially while traveling with a child. The online photos were misleading, as the only exterior images shown were of the pool area, which gave the impression of balconies rather than motel-style access. Second, the water barely got past lukewarm, and that was only after letting it run for an extended period. After long days at the park, all I wanted was a hot shower, but that was not possible. Third, the television had very few cable channels, and the local channels appeared to be dependent on an antenna, as we constantly received a weak signal message. Fourth, the hotel has a policy of servicing rooms only on the third day to promote energy efficiency. On the morning of day three, I gathered all the used linens and towels for housekeeping, expecting service while we were out. However, when we returned, nothing had been done. I had to walk outside to the front desk just to request fresh towels. Lastly, the air conditioning unit only produced cool air, even when set to 80°F. Nighttime temperatures dropped to 56°F, and at times, the unit wouldnât even turn off. We had to cover it with a poncho and a towel just to block the cold air. This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had. I did contact the front desk to report these issues, and maintenance visited twice, stating they would inform management. However, nothing was ever resolved. I considered requesting a refund but knew that booking through a third party would make that process difficult. Next time, I will spend the extra $200 for a better experience. In this case, I truly got what I paid for.

Check in was easy and clerk was very friendly. We were upgraded to a suite due to status with choice. Room was very large and more than ample for our needs. This is a motel type hotel, however it is safe and secure. Room was well appointed ben though the tv was small to our standards and very far away from our bed to view any captions. We were located directly across from the pool and it can get a bit rowdy with the bottle drinkers on the pool deck. Housekeeping was there but never touched our room for a 6 night stay. We did however have what we needed, and I grabbed a roll of toilet paper from the cart since the housekeeper was busy and I did not want to interrupt her. the grounds were well kept and groomed daily. Parking is free but you must obtain a pass from the desk to attach to your windshield in view. Parking can be tight, and limited din the evening hours. Air conditioner was newer model and very efficient to cool our room. Shower was very large and the room had 4 sinks- unsure why. Ample closet space, wet bar, futon, and king sized bed with coffee maker and small mini fridge-dorm sized. All in all a great stay with very friendly staff and well kept grounds. We will return. They even have a free shuttle to universal and is a short walk to to TGI Fridays maybe 4-5 min.

Hotel was clean and nice staff throughout Has a very good restaurant but go mild when asked the level of spice you want, mild is medium. Pool wasnât heated which was a shame Hot tub worked fine Try and get a room opposite the pool as others are very close to i4 ours was quite noisy from traffic after 6am Would stay again, good price and decent size rooms with a safe, fridge, kettle tea and coffee facilities Itâs a partner hotel with Universal and over the road from the theme parks, hotel has a shuttle so can save on the $30 odd dollars a day car park fee After 6pm parking is free at Universal theme parks. Car parking at Clarion is free, Universal Hotels charge $34 a night !

Staying here for a night to go to Universal studioâs is alright. I wouldnât recommend staying longer than 1 night. The rooms are very noisy and you can basically hear everyone walk by. It is very close to the theme park but there are definitely better options. If you are looking for a more budget option this hotel is alright.

This is a very old hotel, and it shows. The room doors are open to the street, so there is no security. In addition to the desk chair, there is no sitting chair or couch in the room. There is also insufficient lighting, and the lights present had bright white bulbs, which is unpleasant.
