The Whitelaw Hotel

My friend and I are college students who booked this hotel to be near the beach. We're from Canada, and we're planning to come to Miami for spring break. Due to the snowstorm and plane crash in Toronto, our flights were cancelled 2 days in a row and we couldn't make it to the hotel. Despite being in contact with the manger on email about keeping our booking, our reservation was CANCELLED. Then, when we asked for our money back, we were refused. This is the worst customer service I've ever experience. They also had the rudest people working the phone.

When we arrived we were told by the hotel that our holiday company had cancelled our booking and our room had been given away. This was extremely upsetting. After trying to contact the holiday company it turned out that they hadn't cancelled it and the hotel then offered us a room in their sister hotel across the road. When we made a fuss eventually we were told that the whitelaw had a room available which was very strange given that only half an hour before they told us they were fully booked! This was a really disappointing start to our holiday. Personally I think that they had more business for this hotel than the sister hotel and they're trying to push people across to that one which was not great either. The room was clean and tidy but the beds were terrible and squeaked every time you moved. The bathrooms desperately need updating - the sink was full of cracks and the shower was really poor. The positive about the hotel was the location. It's literally 5 minutes walk from Ocean drive and all the hustle and bustle of Miami. Despite the rough start we had a fantastic holiday but I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Just a shocker! Place charges $100 deposit which i know is fairly normal i know but then resort fee of over $34 a night? For what i will never know ? Internet not working Cold shower Creeky bed Barely any plugs for anything (they supply iron and table top board but no where to stand it up or plug it in What made it worse was staff who just shrugged shoulders at my issues Best avoided
