Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel an IHG Hotel

What a lovely hotel. The restaurant is so delicious. The staff is kind and helpful, and Luis the bellman made us feel so welcome right away… he suggested a delicious Cuban restaurant and festive row of restaurants that were a short walk, and then helpfully suggested that he help with planning our early morning return to the airport in two days… which was a great idea since we were catching a 6 am flight! The tiki lounge by the pool also offers great shade and comfortable seating.

Sandro at the floating blackjack table was awesome. Lots of fun things to do at the pool. The social hour is also very generous and our room had everything we needed. Very conveniently located near Lincoln and lots to do in the area. Not far from stores and restaurants.

This hotel is style over substance, beware of the instagram ready photos and socail media presence, because all is now what it seems... On arrival we were left at check in to wait for our room, the reason for that was we asked for a pet free oom due to allergies. The room was eventually ready at around 5pm. When we arrived at the room you definitely wouldn't have known it had received an extra deep clean, it was dusty and dirty. The bathroom was abysmal, the sink all rusty, the shower screen rusty and moldy, the toilet didn't flush, the telephone didn't work. This a supposed premium room. I walked to reception to report the issues only to be told someone would come to fix up and then clean. The repair men were great and did fix the toilet and phone. However, the cleaners never did show up, not for entire stay, which was 2 nights and 3 whole days. Not once did someone clean or make up the beds. On to the beds, extremely uncomfortable, and made for someone under 5ft tall, i am 5ft 6 inches, so not exactly statuesque, my feet were hanging off the end of the bed. The bed was lumpy and not at all premium. The furniture in the room was peeling and damaged and really did look worse for wear, i would hate to see a standard room if this one is premium. On to the other amenities, the reception area was past its best and the seats in the main foyer had stains on them, right where you would put your behind, i can only imagine how the stains came about. The restaurant looked lovely but i didn't once see anyone dining in it. The pool and beach staff seemed to close up early each day, and the outdoor bar wasn't open after 6pm, which seemed a little pointless. The pool patio has a cat, the cat eats birds, as cats do - but they don't get cleaned up, so watch out for dried up corpses. The pool on arrival day, Saturday, was full of non-residents, and this is clearly the hotels priority. There was a doggie brunch on, again non-residents. If the hotel gave half as much focus to their paying guests, then they'd be much better off for it. Its in a good location, but thats about it, nad i wouldn't reccomend this hotel to anyone with any kind of standards.

Was there our 29th anniversary and it was a great choice. The stuff all around was friendly- using my AMEX Platinum for the reservation allowing me to get a early check-in, late Check-out and $100 to use towards breakfast- And upgraded to a Oceanview room. The beach was awesome and not crowded- the pool was relaxing -SPA was good too, everything also family friendly. Great location near Espanyola Way — five star all aro
