AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This is the absolute WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. If it had been possible to leave and go elsewhere, I would have but because I was forced to book via a conference app, it was both prepaid and done via a 3rd party (Expedia). HUGE MISTAKE! Parking was not free (I had even called Marriott corporate to verify) - you could ONLY park via valet who is NOT responsible for damage for $36/day. The front desk claimed that this was made clear on their website and no, their website said it was $15/day to park yourself. Not only was that NOT true, the local, city parking lot is $20/day. I told "too bad" and that "you should have booked directly with the hotel" as if that was a viable option! On top of that, I was told that there was no way I could connect my Marriott account to the reservation because I had the audacity to NOT book directly with Marriott! That has NEVER been an issue in the past and I had no way to NOT book via the conference site (I tried but this hotel would NOT honor the conference pricing). Next we have the little fact that this hotel is undergoing "renovations". This was NOT disclosed when I booked, it was NOT disclosed when I checked in. I didn't learn about this until AFTER I got into my room to find a letter from the GM sitting on the end table saying "I am writing to inform you that our highly anticipated full-scale renovation is now underway." Not only that, but they stated that their goal was to provide "hot water" and "better water pressure"! Ummm... what?? Turns out, only the "old" rooms were available and mine was SO OLD that not only did I NOT have ANY hot water in the bath/shower, but I also had no water pressure! I had to wash my hair in the sink!! The bed was ancient, lumpy and saggy. And at some point, someone spilled a bottle of perfume in the room because that's ALL you could smell! The A/C was entirely uncontrollable - it was either set to "arctic blast" or "off" no matter what you tried to set it to. When I asked about why it shut off at 3am, so I roasted until 7am when it finally turned back on, I was told that maybe I didn't know how to use it. What kind of answer is that?? I asked if I could move rooms and was told that the only rooms available were the "old" rooms! So, what, I'd get more of the same?? Further, the elevators were wonky. Oh, you need to go to the 5th floor? Too bad, it's going to take you to the 7th floor even if you didn't press the button! Oops, now you're going to the 11th floor! This happened not only to me, but to others who were also staying there for the conference. Not once was there another person on those other floors waiting for the elevator! Finally, the walls were SO THIN that I heard the person in the next room snoring away all night long. I also heard every word of their conversations with their families when they called home each evening. That was NOT a joy to listen to. This was an absolute NIGHTMARE of a stay and I actually changed my plans and left a day early JUST TO GET AWAY!

My daughter and I stayed here as a convenient launch point for a dance competition at the Prime F. Osborne Convention Center. The staff was exceptionally nice. Emelie (sp?) at check-in Friday evening and Keisha the following morning were super friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and had what we needed. We had dinner at the onsite restaurant and service and food were both excellent. Finally, we had a post-stay issue (our own fault), which the staff went an extra mile to help to resolve. I like Marriott for its consistency. This was all that and more with the added smiles. If you are downtown in J-Ville, you can't go wrong here.

Old and dated. The hotel is undergoing major construction which is needed. Room was comfortable and staff was very nice, but everything was old and worn. Wanted to be downtown, but will not stay in downtown Jacksonville again. …………………………….
