Candlewood Suites Jacksonville East Merril Road an IHG Hotel

Within a decent uber ride to Vystar Stadium. The staff is always friendly and we always stay here when we have an event in Jacksonville. Also close by to some restaurants and grocery stores. It's quiet, clean and comfortable as well with very reasonable prices.

This Candlewood is a well-maintained older build with good customer service and a great housekeeping staff. That said, I would not choose this one again with so many in-class options. Instead of vending, Candlewood has their own market at front desk which is stocked sparsely and poorly. If you like Coca Cola great, if you want Diet Coke or much else they don't have it. Coffee is the bagged concentrate mix which is terrible. Beds seem tired, it was uncomfortable. There is no ice machine. They tell you to turn on the ice maker in the room fridge, however ours was broken. You expect ice available at a Candlewood. While the Candlewood is clean, it no longer meets brand standard and the touches you'd expect (like properly stocking the market) simply aren't done. To be fair, they try. The building needs a refresh, the brand is not upheld and they need to appropriately stock their market.

Candlewood definitely did us right as we got in late after a long drive. Checkin was efficient! Our room was super clean and comfortable, the beds were great for sleeping, and they let us leave our car there for the day while we watched the Jags game.

1. I pre-registered my dog on line. When I arrived I had no problem checking in but later when I asked for the maintenance manager to help me with the TV "clickers" he reported my dog to the front desk that locked me out of my room until I filled out another form that included my dogs name. 2. On the morning I was scheduled to check out (11/24) I was again locked out of my room at 8am that morning following my dogs morning walk. I went to the front desk and asked why I was locked out and was told it was policy to terminate the room key on the day of checking out even if I was allowed by hotel policy to check out at 11am. 3. The recliner chair in ADA room 106 is worn out and is very uncomfortable. 4. The entire front yard between the Candlewood Suites and Golden Corral restaurant is filled with painful sandburs that dig into an animals paws and embed themselves in the animals fur. The animal then carries those sandburs into the bedroom where the humans become stabbed with those sandburs.

Spent 45 days for work, worked out very well. Nice room, full size fridge, good cooking equipment. No oven but can borrow a toaster oven from front desk. VERY nice staff. Restaurants and multiple grocery's near by. CONS: Gas grill out back doesn't work very well.
