Bali Hai Beachfront Resort and Spa

So I understand that the area was destroyed by a hurricane but don’t steal peoples hard earned money!! We have an ocean front room and if it wasn’t for the that I would swear we were staying in East St.Louis in da hood! They are renovating below us still and this room smells like mold. The room is old and disgusting!! I’ve stayed in motel 6 before traveling for work that’s nicer than this place. It’s my wife and I ten year anniversary and We should have went tent camping on an air mattress! After all it’s costing us $5650.00 for five nights in this dump of a room! Save your money and stay elsewhere

I’ve never written a review before, but after reading recent reviews I felt I had to. This was our second visit to this resort. We’ve always found the property to be clean and well maintained. Both times we’ve stayed beachfront in non-updated rooms. This is specified in the room description so I’m confused when people complain about it. For me personally, I couldn’t care less what type of countertops or flooring a room has, as long as the room itself clean. It’s basically a small, one bedroom apartment. This works perfect for us, as my husband is an early riser and enjoys sitting on the balcony of a morning. You could easily cook in the stocked kitchen that comes with a full size refrigerator, but we don’t. I don’t know about the other rooms, but both rooms we’ve had have room safes, so I’m sorry to hear other people have had issues. Our main priority on vacation is no stress or hassle! We go there because the views are wonderful. We love walking out of our room and within a few steps we’re on the beach with a chair and umbrella waiting for us. The only thing we have to do is get towels from the poolside ( which, by the way, are the softest, nicest resort beach towels we’ve ever had!). The staff has always been extremely helpful and accommodating. I would definitely recommend Bali Hai and we will be returning!

Now that I realize my wallet getting stolen and all my credit cards being used at local 7Elevens and Wawa's wasn't a one off incident, figured I'd write the review to let everybody else know. There are no safes in the room, the security cameras don't work, and there was little to no help when I reported the wallet stolen. Unfortunate to report this but makes me feel a little better knowing my review will help the resort lose money for the sh*t I had to deal with. I was there for a wedding the weekend before the below incident about stolen wedding gifts was reported.

A gal I know had her destination wedding here. They were happy to support this resort after the hurricane, and had been here before. They were all shocked to find that while they were celebrating the marriage, their rooms were gone thru and many things were missing, including $1500 cash from Wedding envelopes & cards. Inside job. The hotel offered nothing for compensation. The Bride & Groom were happy with their ceremony & reception, but the lack of protection & security from the management.

If you are planning to book a stay on the island, I would avoid the Bali Hai Beach Resort at all costs! While we have stayed here in the past with no issues, our most recent stay for our wedding weekend after they reopened post hurricanes was beyond disappointing. We had a room block of about 7 suites and one of my bridesmaids had $150 stolen from her room, another’s credit card was stolen from her wallet and attempted use at the 7/11 for $500 on Saturday morning which thankfully Chase flagged for her. The cherry on top: our wedding cards were tampered with and opened and over $1500 in cash was stolen out of our cards. I paid almost $3K for our suite and was so excited to support the hotels reopening and we obviously feel completely violated and beyond disappointed by their refund of $750 😔 Our key cards did not work and every night we had to go to the front desk for them to reissue the card. When I told them this was an inconvenience as there is only a front desk person there until 10pm, they suggested leaving the back sliding door unlocked 🤯 My wedding coordinator was also given a key to my room from the desk without any verification of ID or her name being on the room so who knows who else they let in. We spent the first morning of our honeymoon at the Holmes Beach Police Station at 6am to report everything lol We’ve received little to no info from the hotel and were redirected to talk to the police and insurance companies going forward so to say we are disappointed by their “resolution” is an understatement. Do your own google searches on the owner of this property (and others on the island) and you’ll find it easy to support any other hotel or AirBnbs on the island!
