We came into town for a college visit. Granted this was the last hotel room available in the city. Generally a Hampton Inn is a fine mid tier hotel. Walked into the room and the smell just overtakes you. The bedspread on one of the beds that clearly old. The stitching was pulled all. The bathroom just smells like mildew. No fan so it was like a sauna in there after showers, tissue holder just covered in a thick layer of dust. I thought it was specked paint on the holder. Opened the closet to find someone else's dirty clothes and hangers on the ground. The staff is the best thing about the place, super friendly, but they've got to be embarrassed as well. To the hotel owner... do better. Management- no need to respond. I know you know it's bad.

What would you rate a hotel if you spend 320$ and can't go to sleep at night? That was what happened to us at Hampton Inn Gainesville. My family and I couldn’t go to sleep the entire night due to extremely loud noise coming from the street—people shouting, music blasting from cars. The hotel is located right across the street from several restaurants/bars, and the noise carries all the way up to the top floor, where we were staying. That’s how loud it was. The police showed up once and the music stopped briefly, but it started right back up again. I had to get up at 3 a.m. to call the front desk and ask them to call the police again. This back-and-forth went on for most of the night. We were exhausted and frustrated. I had to eventually play sleep meditation music in a loud volume to cancel out the pounding noise a little bit to take a quick nap during the night. I am not sure that night, if everyone else is sleeping with an earphone on, or if they just gave up calling the front desk. But if you are someone like me, who can't fall asleep during a rock concert, avoid this place at all cost! We paid $320 for a night of little rest, the hotel insisted that this was not their responsibility and the noisy was out of their control. If that is the case, they should have let everyone know about this fact so that travelers can make their own choices.

The front office staff was so rude with me. Tapping her fingernails as I was asking a question that I’m assuming she thought was a stupid question because of her eye rolling. The rooms are very dated but clean. I wish they would inform the guest that there is an additional $23. parking fee that you have to pay to park your car.

The room was amazing! Definitely a step up from your every day Hampton. High ceilings, very nice. Plenty of metered parking outside, the area is walkable, although not particularly nice, but ok for florida, I suppose. Nice water pressure in the shower.

The room was clean. One bed was very comfortable. The other bed was worn out. The web site says free parking but you actually have to use the parking garage for $22. Breakfast was disappointing. The sausage looked terrible, out of potatoes at 8:00 and never refilled. The highlight was Tryvon who checked us in. He was friendly and efficient.
