The River Inn

We made last minute decision to take a road trip to DC for spring break. Fortunate to find the River Inn with a double suite plenty of room to accommodate family of five. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. The room was clean and maid/housekeeping was great; they even cleaned the dirty breakfast dishes daily. No breakfast is included here so we stocked up on breakfast essentials at nearby Whole Foods. They provided complimentary detergent for laundry. There are two washer and dryer use an app to pay. Parking was average for the area at a hotel. Proximity to metro was fantastic, and in a clean safe area. We also walked to the mall and monuments from this location. Complimentary umbrella use appreciated. Would definitely stay here again if we return to DC!

We stayed at this hotel for one night in April of 2025. The prices were more expensive than usual because it was cherry blossom season, but were still affordable. The River Inn is a six minute walk to the subway station (Foggy Bottom - George Washington University station), Whole Foods, and Trader Joe’s. The rooms have a large kitchenette with a gas stove, toaster, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. This is convenient because breakfast at the hotel isn’t included. Our room had a queen sized bed and a sofa bed. The staff here was very friendly; we arrived before check in time and our room was already ready. Brandy (who was at the front desk) helped us find great restaurants nearby, including Tatte, a DC chain with one restaurant close to this hotel. Although the hotel is close to the metro station, we were able to walk to the Lincoln Memorial (about 20 minutes) and from there, the National Mall and Smithsonian museums. Several rooms have a view of the Watergate complex nearby. Valet parking is $55 a night, and 15 minute and 2 hour parking are both available in front of the hotel. Overall, this was a lovely hotel for our Washington, DC visit.

The River Inn was lovely. The front desk was helpful and friendly, the rooms were spacious and clean with everything you might need. The gym is small but complete. The restaurant Matera was terrfic too. We were located within walking distance of GW and The Mall. We had a great trip and would happily return!

We had a fantastic stay at The River Inn during our trip to D.C.! From start to finish, the experience was warm and welcoming. The valet driver greeted us with a friendly smile and helpful attitude, setting a great tone for our visit. The front desk staff were just as kind, making check-in quick and easy. Our room was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our family. A special shoutout to the maid service—not only did they keep things spotless, but they even took the time to line up our kids’ stuffed animals on the couch, which absolutely delighted them. It’s those thoughtful little touches that made our stay so memorable. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend The River Inn to other families visiting D.C.

This was our second consecutive year staying here with our family. One of the reasons we came back to DC was because of the excellent customer care provided by the team at the River Inn. Everyone is so friendly, the rooms are great, and it’s so incredibly close to the metro which makes it convenient for traveling around. We can’t wait to visit again in the future!
