Americas Best Value Inn Putnam

We stayed here for 3 nights in late October. For the price, I expected more. However, this particular Motel 6 is grungy. I can't speak for others, but this one is not on my list of return-eligible hotels. Several times I was concerned for my safety. The biggest red flag was the bank-style bullet-proof glass and speaker to talk to the desk agent. The outside is rundown and rusty. Our room was on the 2nd floor and I was immediately cautious about using the stairs as the looked like they could collapse at any moment. The rust was everywhere - who knows how close to falling down. To make matters worse, the concrete filling the steps was cracked and 'heaved' - uneven. The balcony was the same. Our room looked like it was last remodeled in 1970. The paint color (where it was still there) was horrible. The only amenity they offer is (bad) coffee. Get there early and you will have to pay EXTRA to check in. I wont be going back here - ever.

Friendly staff, clean room, fair prices (especially these days). Good stop for our drive through. Lately all of those qualities are quite challenging to come by, so it was a very pleasant surprise to stay somewhere that satisfied those expectations.

Way overpriced considering the rundown property and lack of amenities. I’m not against budget motels but this was terrible. After this experience I will NEVER stay at a Motel 6 again. Just awful. Proceed with caution.

Stayed at the Motel 6 in Niantic for a getaway weekend with our furry friend. Location is convenient right off I95. Its a budget hotel so no refrigerator, no breakfast and no daily housekeeping was not a deal breaker. Our room was on the small side and the water pressure was low but the cleanliness and maintenance was really good with a pristine paint job. Also Motel 6 allows pets with no additional fee so that's a big plus. All in all, we can't complain and would recommend with the caveat that you know what to expect at a Motel 6 - low cost and minimal amenities but a decent room.

This is a decent stay for the price and I love that it’s pet friendly. I stayed for awhile and it was safe and clean. The good - [ ] front desk: Janky, Susan, Adrianna are all wonderful . - [ ] Brenda and rest of housekeeping are great! - [ ] Safe area at reasonable price. - [ ] dogs allowed, decent space (I recommend going downtown to park or beach in Niantic) The Bad - [ ] Manager on a power trip, condescending. He definitely enjoys telling people no. He often seemed like he really had no idea what was going on in his own motel. Treated me like I was a subordinate instead of a paying guest. - [ ] Weird things like toilet paper rationed out one or two at a time, you have to go to desk to get it along with towels, flimsy garbage bags that you need to bring to the dumpster yourself. - [ ] No toilet lid… wtf? That’s just strange. - [ ] two rooms I stayed in worse for wear, brown spots rust ick, one had mold all over door when I got there. - [ ] while I was there my heat broke, my door broke, my microwave broke, there were hot water problems as well. The hotel key cards malfunctioned often so I’d be locked out of my room quite often. - [ ] Other people don’t pick up dog poop 💩 in dog area and there are no bags in the spot for them. I use my own but maybe people would pick it up if bags were there? Maybe not. - [ ] Smokers allowed to smoke next to rooms, smell came into room. The weird: So what’s up with that guys in the red truck who marks his parking spot with caution cones?
